Manufacturer's Description
What if a phone is also an MP3 player, a digital voice recorder, an organiser? Can it still be called a phone? Whatever you decide to call the new SL45, you can't help but label it as absolutely ingenious: state-of-the-art technology in 88 grams of sleek galvanised aluminium; an almost endless list of multimedia capabilities and intelligent features. The SL45 sets a new standard in the premium class of mobile phones. That is if you can still call it a mobile phone. MP3 Player & Headset The SL45 has a built-in MP3 player. So it can have the blues, or any other style of music saved on its standard 32 MB MultiMediaCardTM. That means up to 45 minutes of CD-quality music; whenever, wherever you want it. Simply transfer your favourite MP3 files from your PC to the phone, and away you go. The SL45 also comes with stylish stereo headphones that automatically switch from music to incoming calls. So you'll never miss a thing--even when you're lost in the beat.
Customer Reviews
Outstanding! You won't find anything better!
Where do I start - I've had my share of mobile phones, and the SL45 is my eighth mobile phone. I've seen them all - Nokia's, Motorola's, Ericsson's and Sony's etc.
First, the phone is absolutely gorgeous and small - about the same size as an 8210, and includes a slot for a standard MMC card which can hold MP3's, dictaphone notes and also room for SMS messages that you may want to keep.
The whole package I bought (from another retailer) included stereo headphones which doubles as a hands-free kit - colour co-ordinated, MMC card, Data Sync cable, cradle and MP3 software and charger! Unlike other brands, why pay out more for them separately?!
Secondly, the phone has a myriad of features and menus - heaven! Being very security conscious, it has a thorough security menu with lots of levels of restrictions - I mean, whats the point of having a keypad lock which is simply two keypresses to unlock?! Siemens lead the way with a proper PIN keypad lock!!
To summarise the features, it's got a built in MP3 player which holds as much as your MMC capacity (comes with 32MB as standard), Dictaphone, Games, Infra Red port with built in modem, Calculator, Calendar, Voice Dialling, WAP, Stopwatch, Currency Convertor, Ringtone Composer and customisable logos and much more!
OK, you are probably wondering what the disadvantages are? I do have one... Uploading MP3 files via the cradle is very slow, but any MMC Writer/Reader, especially via USB make it a worthwhile accessory if you are an MP3 fan. Siemens I believe do still sell this as a separate accessory.
One year later, I still haven't found anything that beats this in security and features - make this your next mobile!
Top quality phone with top features !
Bought this phone a little while ago and am utterly butterly pleased with it :D It has some great features like one button locl/unlock ... one button ring on /beep ... bmp images can be used as logos ... The only 2-3 negtaive points I have ( which arent really major ) are that 1 ) It is small and always seems as if its going to slip out of your hand ... 2) The sms archive should allow files to be saved with same names so i know who i got sms's from ... and 3) ringtones are a problem to get hold of ... as I said before, these are minor problem ... the look, feel and quality of the phone is of the highest standard ! Highly recommended to anyone thinking of buying this !!
Oh, and it also activates alarms even when the phone is off :D:D:D !!!
Does just about everything
The phone itself is small, very good looking and not many people i know own this phone or one similar meaning that you dont have to have the same as everyone else in the room. Most people including myself have a phone from the Nokia range so it made a pleasing change. The MP3 function on the Sl45 is fantastic and is a perfect 'bragging' feature, its is also a lifesaver if you are bored or simply lacking in pocket space for a minidisk or diskman as well as a phone. The memory card is also fairly large but allows for upgrades if you are into the music side of the phone. The games are fairly good also giving a nice change from snake on the 3330. I believe the only bad thing about this phone is the fact that the casing cannot be changed, a handy feature the Nokia models have so they not only look good but in the event the phone is dropped you can change the casing. All in all a fantastic phone.
