Product Description

Say hello to the world's fastest NetMD model, the MZ-N910. The MZ-N910 can transfer music files 64x faster than real time, meaning that five minutes of music can be transferred in just five seconds. This model has a slim, full aluminium body and comes supplied with a charging cradle that has UBC connection. For improved editing and operability the N910 has a jog dial, five-position control and a three-line Dot-matrix LCD display to allow for easy searching and text editing. Digital Pitch Control (DPC) allows the user to change the playback speed without altering sound pitch alteration.

The MZ-N910 offers VPT (Virtual Phone Technology--Virtual Sound Mode), a six-band equaliser, ATRAC TYPE-S Digital Sound Processor, Bookmark function, Group function, MDLP and G-Protection and is also supplied with a silver back-lit LCD remote controller. The MZ-N910 boasts a battery life of up to 114 hours (rechargeable battery and external dry battery case is supplied) and is available in both silver and blue.

The MZ-N910 comes supplied with the new operating Sonic Stage software, which features an improved Graphic User Interface (GUI) making it easier to store tracks. The software is also backwards compatible with OpenMG jukebox software so play lists can be automatically updated. It also allows users to access the Gracenote CDDB music recognition service website to download track information such as album, artist or song titles.

Once the tracks have been stored using the Sonic Stage software on the PC, they can be transferred onto a Net MD Walkman. The MZ-N910 can record MP3, WMA and WAV files, which, once downloaded and transferred to MiniDisc are converted to Sony's high-quality ATRAC3 compression format.

the best minidisc you can get.5
definatly the best mini disc avaluble from sony..it writes at 64x and it has a romovable battry which you dont get in any other 64x minidisc.. teh battery life is more than twice the other new minidisc... it has practicly no disadvantages to its siblings besides the fact that it is cheaper.

Great - but MD is now showing its age4
This player would have scored 5 stars if I didn't need to keep swapping disks all the time. Even with maximum compression, 7-8 hours is the maximum you can record on to one disk. That might sound a lot, but we have come to expect more given the hundreds of hours of playback from Apple's IPOD and similar hard disk based players.

Removing storage capacity from the equation and you have a very good machine.
Small, neat and quite easy to use, although the in-line volume control is fiddly and I am forever double-checking to make sure I have turned the thing off to ensure that the battery doesn't run down. As for battery life - I reckon on 4-5 hours before a recharge and double that if you plug the optional single cell battery into the base.

Sound is very good although maximum volume level is poor and to my ears I could not tell much difference between zero and maximum compression. A graphic equalizer is provided with virtual surround and various modes such as club and stadium. However, after an hour or so the novelty ran out and I now just keep it on standard no frills playback. SSShhhhock protection is excellent and I have yet to experience any break in playback, including hundreds of hours in the gym on cross trainers and Concept II rowers.

Sony provides Sonic Stage, PC based software which manages your music collection. It does the job OK, but can best be described as condescending. It makes you check CDs in and out of the PC in an attempt to stop you copying CDs to remote players.

If Sony had released this 6-7 years ago they might have had much bigger success with MD. As it is, surely it's only a matter of time before Sony decides that it has recovered its original investment and moves permanently towards more capacious media.

Its brilliant!!5
