Good Phone - OK Player
I got this phone from Orange Pay As You Go. The phone looks great and works like all Nokia's simply and easily apart from the menu system which is a bit strange and long winded in its organisation.
The thing that puts this phone down are all the small points which just annoy and pick at you over time. For example you are unable to load your wallpapers or any pictures for that matter onto your phone. The reason for this? Well the smart people at Nokia decided only the internal 4.5 MB (I think) of memory recognises picture files like JPEG etc. The 64 MB Memory apon which you load songs does not which is a real pain as I felt that being able to do that was a major selling point for me. The only way to get new pictures on your phone is to download them off the Internet through your phone (a costly pain)!
The music player itself has its good points and its bad. Firstly whats nice is to have the all in one piece of equipment encorporating a mobile phone, radio and MP3 player. The sound is great even from the loudspeaker and the fact you can set your favourite MP3's as ringtones is fantastic! Eventhing about the design is good APART from the conections at the top, you have your charger part, the jack to plug in the recording wire and your headphone port. The headphone port is a teribble idea as it does not allow you to connect other earphone types to the phone, which is especially annoying considering the ones supplyed arent the best. When you 'connect' the headset it is very wobbly and can cause the phone to recognise the headset as disconnected, a very big annoyance, it moves way to much and is in no way secure which is such a pain. The radio is the worst feature, the headset is the reciever and as it shakes causes an extremely poor signal and moving the port or bumping it while walking can cause the sound to flicker and break up!
To summerise:
Good Points
-Overall a great mobile phone, everything you expect from a Nokia MOBILE.
-A good MP3 Player built in but you can get better with alot more memory!
-Good sound quality with headphones and a loudspeaker which can pack a punch!
-Good size memory supplied which is upgradable to 128MG MMC max.
-Software supplied is reasonable but ACC is hopeless, they compress CD size files ALOT bigger than MP3. I simply save the tracks using RealOne Player and load them onto the phone using the supplied Nokia Audio Manager.
Bad Points
-Very poor developed connection for headset, a real put off at times!
-The headset also brings down the radio function with it giving poor reception and not so hot sound.
-The fact you can't take pictures from your computer is again a real pain and put off.
-The price is way too high (sim free) and I think you can get alot more for you money elsewhere.
Is this the right phone for you?
I have been using this phone for nearly 2 months now and I think it is an excellent phone! Some people think it is big and prefer buying an mp3 player in stead, but have you ever missed a call when you were listening to your music? I have done it so many times and this can solve the problem.
In addition, after buying a 256mb MMC card, it really turns into a fantastic mp3 player! First time when I put the memory card in, the phone didn't recognise it. However when you connect my phone to the computer, the Nokia Audio Manager recognised the capacity of the memory card!
If I have to say one bad thing about this phone, the only thing is the remote control. It only has one button so you can only use as a forward button. Apart from that, I really can't think of anything else.
Hope this help!
Nokia 3300
I have had the phone for two weeks now and I am very happy with it! It has some good features like an MP3 player with changeable SD card and FM radio. However it lacks connectivity via bluetooth or infrared. The head phone plug is a bit flimsy but they sound amazing and have a built in 5 band eq. It has even got a cable to connect it to your hi-fi or any other music player. The PC cable and software are fast and easy to use but one can't transfer any images onto the phone via the PC!
