k700i is great
I received my new phone last week after doing a lot of research into the latest mobiles. I chose the K700i for its looks, then went about looking for the best offer (Amazon was the cheapest on pay as you go).
So far, I have been delighted by the phone. I have instant access to my local cinema times and loads of fun stuff on Orange World. I have taken photos and video clips and sent them to my computer and to friends by email (directly from the phone), because not may of my friends have photo messaging. I have a bluetooth dongle on order so that I can download stuff straight to my PC. There are loads of things to fiddle with. The games are very detailed with plenty more to download.
At first I was worried about the amount of money I had spent, but now I realise it was worth every penny. It looks as good as the picture. I have bought it a clear plastic jacket so that it doesn't get scratched.
The only down side was that it didn't come with a cable or dongle to allow PC connectivity, they need to be bought seperately.
In response to an earlier review, the clock still shows on the automatic light mode!
I would highly recommend this phone...an excellent buy!
Top of its class
This phone is certainly the best I've ever had in my hands. The features are all very impressive, even compared to newer phones; radio, MP3 player, etc. The 1.3 megapixel camera does excellent quality photos, good enough to print off. The camera light and image editing options are great bonuses! The video quality is really quite grainy, but then you don't expect to shoot a Hollywood blockbuster on it - it's good enough for what most people will use it for! It also means you have the ability to download and receive other video clips; a lot of phones don't do this, and I think as technology progresses video clips will become much more widespread, so you're already ahead with this phone.
The Bluetooth capability means you can choose your own ringtones and wallpapers by connecting with a computer (I've already chosen a short clip from my favourite song as my ringtone, and it sounds great). The MP3 ringtones come out loud and clear, with no distortion. The organiser and address book are really handy; you can add loads of info to each contact, such as email address, real address, and up to five phone/fax numbers. Reminders and alarms are easy to set within the organiser. The three games included are good quality, and you obviously have the option to download more.
The phone's exterior is sharp looking and smart. The silver and brushed aluminium casing looks expensive and tends to impress others... I find the buttons relatively easy to use, but they are close together. They light up brightly and are very clear. The screen is top quality, and hard to beat; it's clear and easy to read even in daylight. The menu layout is simple and intuitive, and I was checking out all the features within minutes. I expect most people could be completely familiar with this phone within a day.
There is only one bad thing I can find with this phone, and that's the battery life. It doesn't last more than four (maybe five) days with very light use - but if you use the camera/radio/MP3 player every day then it wears down within a couple of days. Sony Ericsson need to work on this.
Overall this mobile is, in my opinion, the best of its class. I couldn't find it anywhere cheaper than Amazon; it's the best price you'll find. It's unsurpassable for the features and quality.
Wonderful
ok, first things first, you will not find this phone cheaper anywhere on the internet, believe me i spent hours before i finnaly bought this phone, Amazon has done a good job at getting it down to this price. At this point in time the average price is around £200 and to give you an idea of the quality of this phone i would have payed a lot more than that to get it.
On first appearences this phone is a smart upgrade of the T610i the top selling phone in europe last year but first apperances can be decieving and this is so much more than an upgrade. The T610i's main fault is the grainy interface and very poor photo quality the K700i has turned this on its head and the photo quality has become comparible to digital cameras (superb VGA camera quality and 65,000 colours) and the interface is bright and makes the Nokia 6230 look crude and wasted. It really uses all 65,000 colours.
One complaint i saw was the fact that the battery can be drained very quickly. This is a fair point and when you are using the digital camera, video recorder or MP3 player it will go dead in 1 or 2 days. However you must remember that a digital camera will only last about this same length of time and it has little to do with the battery quality and is merely a reflection of the amount of energy required to run its extensive applications. Another point to take in account is that if you just use the phone to recieve and occasional text message or phone call it will last around 2 weeks! I was very suprised to find this superb level of battery life in such a small phone.
The MP3 player is very good and although you cannot fit much music on the phone you can fit around an albums length if you use space carefully.
Bluetooth and IRA are impressive and easy to use and as a joint purchase with this phone i would suggest buying a bluetooth adaptor for your computer (if it is not already bluetooth enabled) as it allows you to transfer photos and MP3 files between computer/laptop and phone making your memory to virtually infinate!
I love this phone and would not have any other and whatever you do don't buy the Nokia 6230 because it costs more and is an extremely poor attempt to beat an amazing phone in the K700i!
Surely the phone of the year a multimedia godsend
