Ingenious design at a great price
I recently purchased this phone as a much-needed replacement to my ageing Nokia 3310. The price is fantastic, and the design of the phone is very clever. Unlike most flip phones where the hinge is just an afterthought, the area surrounding the hinge on the front of the phone is flat, and a small panel on the rear of the phone sits on top of the two open panels. When the phone is closed, it forms a cuboid as the floating hinge forms the top of the closed phone. It really is a magnificent piece of engineering.
Another nice touch is that the sides of the phone have built-in LEDs which flash to notify you of an incoming call or text message, which (partially) does away with the need for a second screen on the front of the phone. When answering calls, you open the flip to see who is calling, and are given five seconds to reject or answer the call before it is automatically answered. Closing the flip ends the call, if one is in progress.
Obviously, this phone is not for people who want Bluetooth, a 2 megapixel camera, quad-band telephony et cetera. Rather, if you want to pay a very reasonable price for a small, light phone that works well and has an interesting, eye-catching design, you'll definitely like this.
Fantatastic fone
Simply the best cellphone I've owned. It's extremely solidly put-together; holds a signal well; is simplicity itself to operate; and works just fine in Europe.
Love the soft keys and the sleek, quite minimalist appearance. Bit like an Apple Powerbook's tiny baby brother in terms of being a basic silver brick. The handbook's well-written; the onscreen menu is very easy to follow and the battery holds a charge like no other cell I've ever experienced.
And there are a few little goodies as well in terms of accessing downloads, games etc. For professional reasons, I find the stopwatch function really useful.
Bottom line is that for making/receiving calls and texts and for storing your numbers in an easily accessible and ultra-reliable form, you WILL NOT find a better phone than this. And the price is one of the great bargains of all time.
As other have already pointed out, if you want a phone that shoots movies, microwaves your dinner and takes the dog for a walk, go someplace else.
Nokia 2650
This phone is great value and I am pleased with the functions that it offers, however I must say as a text addict that the keypad can be somewhat annoying. When writing a text keys don't always respond and have to be pressed a few times which means texting now takes a little longer. This is the first nokia that I have had with the rubber keypad, maybe I just need to adjust myself however I must say I would not opt for this type of keypad in the future.
Overall, very pleased with my purchase.
