Manufacturer's Description
Remember the 64-colour pack of crayons? Meet the 65,536-colour pack. Everything looks better in colour. With iPod photo, everything sounds better, too. Carry an entire library of music up to 7,500 songs and full-colour album cover art or as many as 12,500 photos in your pocket.

Picture Your Music
The original iPod changed the way you listen to music by putting thousands of songs in your pocket. Now iPod photo changes the way you see your music, with a crisp colour screen. Browse your playlists via vivid menus, thumb through album and audiobook cover art on the go, even play games and view your calendars in colour. Of course, iPod photo also lets you carry memories along with your music. Upload photos from your Mac or PC and view them in colour, anywhere, complete with built-in backlighting. Your personal, portable entertainment library, iPod photo looks as good as it sounds.

Take It for a Spin
Like its famous siblings, iPod photo features the touch-sensitive Apple Click Wheel that's the envy of the industry. Use it to navigate your music and photos in 65,536 colours. Easier to read than ever, the iPod photo's display boasts 220x176-pixel resolution. Spin the wheel to Music and scroll effortlessly through dozens of playlists, hundreds of albums or thousand of songs.

Or highlight photos. iPod photo displays 25 full-colour thumbnails at a time. And you can scroll through them the same way you scroll through song titles. Quickly. Just spin the wheel to see more. And when you see a photo you'd like displayed all by its lonesome, just click the centre button and voilà. No one will have to say cheese as long as you have iPod photo around. Whether you're listening to tunes or checking out photos, you're sure to be all smiles.

Get Brownie Points for Sharing
If you'd like everyone else to smile right along with you, iPod photo makes it easy. Sure, you could let them take the Click Wheel for a spin themselves, but here's a way to get extra points for style. Use an optional AV cable to connect iPod photo to a projector or TV. You can mesmerize friends and family with a glorious multimedia experience, offering them a breathtaking slideshow accompanied by the music you already have on your iPod photo. Of course, you get to choose the songs, albums or playlists. And talk about smart, iPod photo optimizes your photos to fit on a standard (4:3) or widescreen (16:9) TV.

Sync, Look and Listen
iTunes lets you import your images directly into iPod photo from a folder on the hard drive of your Mac or PC. Spent time organizing your photos using iPhoto on a Mac or either Adobe Album 2.0 or Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0 on a PC? iTunes rewards your diligence by importing the photo albums you've created in iPhoto or collections created in Album or Photoshop Elements. You'll be able to choose them from the Photos menu on iPod photo.

Wait, there's more. iPod photo features even more robust Auto-Sync capabilities. Now, in addition to offering the industry's best music syncing, iTunes offers stellar photo syncing, as well. Update your photo collection by adding images or creating new albums, and the next time you connect iPod photo to your Mac or PC using the included USB 2.0 or optional FireWire cable, iTunes will automatically synchronize your photo collection. And did we mention that iTunes 4.7.1 also autosyncs album cover art? It's true. The cover art downloaded when you purchase music from the iTunes Music Store is transferred to iPod photo along with the music. So while iPod photo plays your tunes, you can enjoy the album art in colour, of course on the Now Playing screen.

Enjoy Improved Battery Life
Whether you're on a transcontinental flight or an extra long hike, if you plan to listen to music for hours and hours, iPod photo has you covered. Fully charged, it lets you enjoy up to 15 hours of continuous music; or up to 5 hours of continuous slideshows with music.(2) Use the included USB 2.0, optional FireWire cable or handy iPod photo Dock to quickly charge the batteries.

1. Music capacity is based on 4 minutes per song and 128-Kbps AAC encoding; photo capacity is based on iPod-viewable photos transferred from iTunes.

2. Rechargeable batteries have a limited number of charge cycles and may eventually need to be replaced. Battery life and the number of charge cycles vary by use and settings.

    Worth the money4
I bought one of these when over in the USA as an upgrade from my Creative Muvo, a bit hesitant looking at the price tag (I'd originally gone into the Apple store to buy a mini), but I thought 'what the heck' and bought one. So here's my thoughts:

    The good:
    ---------

Extremely easy to set up (in my opinion) with my PC and get my music onto the iPod. You might be told that the iPod doesn't work with USB 1.x - it does, although the transfer rate is slow. People also say that it doesn't charge through USB 1.x but I've had no problems so far.

The click-wheel is easy to use, and combining this with playlists you can select your favourite songs. You also have a shuffle mode that will play your songs in random order.

There's also a couple of games on there, but they eat up battery especially if used with the backlight.

Sound output is great, although the headphones leave something to be desired, and bass is somewhat lacking (recommended headphones are the Sony MDR-EX71SLW).

You can also use it as an external 30Gb hard drive - which I've done on numerous occasions.

    The bad:
    --------

The CD-ripping tool doesn't always produce good results, I find myself having to resort to other methods for some tunes to get good output.

A couple of times it looks like all the songs have disappeared from the iPod! This is annoying but is fixed by resetting it.

You can import photos into the iPod, but iTunes doesn't have much in the way of assitance like it does with music. When scrolling through photos the iPod tends to freeze up for a few seconds before continuing.

    The ugly:
    ---------

It scratches VERY easily - get a cover as soon as you can unless you want it to look old really quickly!

Conclusion: Although appearing to be expensive, if you want alot of music to travel around with you, it's definitely worth buying.

    Wow!!!!!!!!5
This is a great product, i got mine yesterday from apple and its amazing. The colour is vivid with no problems with pixels or anything like that. The battery life is to be tested fully but is good so far considering its been improved to 15 hours now compared to the usual 12. itunes isnt as great as i had hoped due to the incredibly slow importing of a cd into itunes but takes seconds to put onto the ipod. Im going to mention the great colours again because that was my only worry with this and i have been totally shocked by the lively colours it has to offer. I researched mp3 players for about 4 monthes before finally purchasing this and i believe i have made the right decision. So far no negatives except for the easy scratching on the back but have a ipod sock coming through the post so no worries. Overall i recommned this over any other mp3 considering its only £50 more than the 20gb and has 10gb more space and has a colour screen. What more can you ask for??

I am so pleased that i have finally bought one4
For the last year or so, i have been telling myself to buy an Ipod. A couple of weeks ago i saw the IPOD 30GB photo at a new lower price. I decided to take a gamble and buy one. I am so pleased that i did buy one because it is fantastic.
I went for a 30GB because i knew that i would never fill up a 60GB, so this is a perfect size.

The picture quality is very good and is a good solution for storing photos so that you can take them and show you're friends. I have found out that it also holds PC files which is good because it means that i can carry all of my school work around with me aswell, which is great.

The only sight thing that i found difficult is putting photos from my PC to the IPOD because you have to wait for the IPOD to finish Syncranising with your PC which can take about ten minutes.

I highly recommend the IPOD 30GB Photo to anyone
