Manufacturer's Description
SONY BRAVIA High Definition Digital LCD TV – Colour like.no.other
You can tell a good TV by the way it reproduces colour. That’s why Sony developed its own high-resolution image processors – and fitted them in every TV in the ground-breaking new BRAVIA LCD range. These processors put every pixel of every image through a five-stage perfecting process to deliver colours and quality no other TV can match.
‘V’ Series BRAVIA LCD. TVs to hang out with
With our flat-panel V series BRAVIA TVs, it’s hard to say what impresses the most, the slim design or the dramatic visuals driven by our acclaimed high-resolution image processors. We’ll let you be the judge. Thanks to the versatile swivel display we know you’ll get a good view of both, wherever you choose to sit. All V Series models are digital switchover compliant with integrated FREEVIEW tuners and they’re also HD ready.
SONY BRAVIA LCD TV – Slim and compact
Sony BRAVIA LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) televisions combine slim, flat-screen design with outstanding picture quality. But what makes a BRAVIA LCD set so special? It’s high-resolution image processors ensure that our entire range of BRAVIA LCD TVs match the clarity and the brightness of the very best Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) sets, but without the bulk – an LCD TV can be twice as slim as an equivalent CRT set. What’s more, most of our LCD models are digital switchover compliant with integrated FREEVIEW tuners and also meet the High Definition of ‘HD’ ready standard (in fact, you can watch High Definition TV from 26 inch and above).
What's so good about Sony BRAVIA TVs?
1) A wider range of colours.
2) Four times the resolution.
3) Smooth motion at high speed.
4) Sharper details.
5) Unrivalled brightness.
1. More natural colours
BRAVIA high-resolution image processors can reproduce a much wider range of colours than conventional TVs, so you can appreciate nature’s full palette – every green in grass, every white in snow and each rich hue of red in a steak.
2. Higher resolution
The more line of pixels in the picture, the higher the resolution and the better the picture quality. That’s why we doubled the number of vertical lines for BRAVIA LCD TVs and, unlike some other manufacturers, doubled the number of horizontal lines too.
3. Stable clarity
Converting to analogue can muddle TV signals, so BRAVIA high-resolution image processors always keep the signal digital. The result is a stable, clear and accurate picture, even with fast-moving objects, for example the cyclists in the Tour de France.
4. DRC Sharpness
Depth and resolution are the key to sharper images. A Sony innovation called Digital Reality Creation (DRC) maximizes both – for sharpness that passes independent tests with flying colours.
5. Dynamic brightness
Superb resolution and colour reproduction mean nothing if the picture’s too dark. That’s why we fit our TVs with a backlight and high-resolution image processors – together they make the picture especially bright, so you get to see even the finest detail.
Why choose a Sony?
Inch for inch, Sony’s LCD TVs may be slightly dearer than other flat-screen formats like plasma, but the picture quality is better, they use less power, give you a wider viewing angle and last longer. From 23 inch up, they have integrated digital tuners and from 26 inch up, they are HD ready, they are also easy to connect to a set-top box and other HD devices – that’s thanks to HDMI. You really get what you pay for.
What makes Sony BRAVIA LCD TVs special?
Up to four times higher resolution and ‘Colour like.no.other’ thanks to high-resolution image processors.
1) Significantly brighter picture with higher contrast.
2) 170 degree wide viewing angle, so you can watch TV from almost anywhere in the room.3) Excellent virtual surround sound.
4) Switchover compliant from 23 inch up with integrated FREEVIEW tuner.
5) A built-in S-master amplifier on the high-end sets.
6) HD ready from 26 inch up.
7) HDMI connection for optimal sound and picture quality from DVD players and High Definition devices like an HDV camcorder and set-top box.
8) Compared to a plasma, they consumer 40% less energy.
9) Long lifespan.
10) Combine the superior picture quality of a Sony BRAVIA LCD TV with Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound and you have a Home Cinema experience that will, quite literally, take your breath away.
HDTV. What is all the fuss about?
High Definition (HD) is to modern television what colour TV was to black& white – a giant leap forward in quality. Within a few years, HD will be the standard broadcast format in Europe. HDTV signals will contain five times as much information as TV now, which means many more pixels and much higher picture resolution. It won’t feel like watching a screen any more – you’ll think you’re actually there. And it’ll sound like that as well, because HD signals can carry 5.1 channel surround sound. Most of the Sony range is HD ready.

Sony Bravia KDLV 32
I strongly believe the Sony Bravia LCD TV is the only TV to consider in this price bracket. It has to be the KDLV as well, don't compromise!!
It just looks so sexy and it oozes quality. I don't think the picture does it justice. Go to a High Street retailer and see for yourself. It has a matt black plastic surround with a silver plastic trim. There is a thin stainless steel fascia below the screen and beneath this is the speaker system placed behind black fabric. There are 3 small LED's indicating power on (green), standby (red) & timer (orange). There are a number of graphics around the display, 'Sony', 'Bravia', 'HDMI' etc but they're not tacky and intrusive.
The TV is unbelievably light to handle and so simple to set up. In fact you don't actually do anything other than plug it in and press 'OK' on the stylish remote control when prompted. The picture quality is very good but I wouldn't say unbelievable or remarkable. The picture is clear though and the colours are rich and vivid. It makes viewing TV/DVD's a real pleasure. I'm sure this TV will come into it's own when HD broadcasting is the standard. I'm considering a good surround sound system as the output is not quite there for movies. It's perfectly acceptable for TV but I want that full cinematic experience.
There are enough connections to meet all your current and future needs. 3 Scarts, 1 HDMI and loads of others.
I've enhanced the overall look by investing in a VOGELS aluminium floor stand. It was pricey but it looks the business. It comes with one glass shelf but with the option to buy another should you have more than one appliance, such as sky. Sony's own stand for this model is, in my opinion, a monstrosity and very pricey.
I find the Freeview meets my needs and Top-Up TV is easy to install. The CAM slots easily into the rear of the unit behind a discreet clip-on panel.
Any negatives? It seems to attract a lot of dust. I'm not sure if that's the [very silent] twin fans at the rear but I'm forever wiping it down!!
I suggest if you're reading these reviews you're in the market for a new LCD tv. Well just do it. Do it now and buy this 32" beauty. You know you want to. And even the Mrs will love it when it arrives!!
Stunning!
Absolutely perrrrfffeeeccct!!!
I dont think there is any flaw with this TV at all. Frankly speaking I was at the verge of buying the Panasonic Vieara 32inch LCD 'HD Ready' Model. But at the time I went to purchase it....the saleswomen informed me about the latest Sony Bravia series which had just arrived at her showroom. On seeing the Bravia and comparing it to the Viera....I completely changed my mind immideately and went ahead with the Bravia.
I think its definitely worth the price as its amazing quality. I can surely say one thing for sure.....Sony do the right thing....at the right time with the right products!
The only choice
This is a superb TV, the colour compared to a normal Tv, and even some LCD's is unbelievable, and the screen has plenty brightness to deal with even the darkest xbox games. Tv is easy to set up, perfect for playing DVD's, Xbox,PC, even Sky. Although sky does occasionally look a bit blocky on the football. One word of advice, if you are purchasing this TV, then set aside money for proper scart cables etc. Set mines up, and picture was not very good compared to a normal CRT TV, swapped out the scart leads for Ixos scarts(they make xbox cables as well), and the improvement was fantastic. Wipes the floor with all other Tv's I have seen, including panasonic viera. Must see to believe! Watched 1st lord of the rings DVD on it, and was that impressed, phoned in sick to work next day, just so I could watch the other 2!
