Braun quality
My second electric shaver and a huge improvement on my old Braun 4745 Tri-control. The pivoting head and Smartfoil make a huge difference. No rash or burn. Very close shave and recharges really quickly. As with most electric shavers you won't get every single awkward whisker - but this Braun Contour rarely misses!

Very Pleased so far
I've only had this shaver for a few days but am very pleased so far.
I've always used a Philishave but found lately that I'm not getting as good a shave as I used to; so tried this Braun.
It is performing well, getting to some of those awkward areas. The moving head seems a good feature.
Minor grumbles: It is rather more noisey and vibrating than the rotary shave. Also, I find it a bit uncomfortable to hold (although I'll probably get used to it).

A Close Shave
Reviewing something like a shaver in not something i'd normally do. Having said that, here i am, writing this short review on the Braun 5874.

For years now i have been using Philishave, and to be honest i haven't been getting the sort or results you'd expect from an electric shaver. It always felt as though i still needed to run up to the bathroom, wet my face and have a wet shave to finish off, and with Philishave it's always been the same.
I tried Remmington. They have always been built quite badly in my opinion. My waterproof Remmington stopped working after water got into the works. It was only 3 months old and the guarentee wouldn't cover this, so that was £100 wasted.
Finally i went back to the three headed rotary Philishave shavers. I've never found that 3 'spinning' blades was a good idea. Afterall the way we all shave is usually up and down, not round and round. I put up with this for many years...
So i found myself looking at Braun. A nice simple design (straight blade design), quick 1 hour charge, sideburn trimmer, and washable. Plus it was £45 cheaper here than in the shops.
I was pleased to see that the shaver is made in Germany, the home of Braun, and not China, where everything seems to be made these days. So what you have is an authentic German product made to German engineering standards.
When i received the shaver i decided to try it straight away, and there was plenty of battery charge already built up. Having had a shave already that morning, i didn't expect too much from this, but once i turned it on i could feel the shaver finishing off what the Philishave had left behind. It literally shaved as close as a blade, thankfully, with no razor-burn afterwards.
Having used this for 3 days now i can safely say that the Braun is the best shaver i have ever used, and it really does shave that close.
