A good all rounder with a nice design
Its a nice phone, very nice design, good slide camera. I have used it for phone calls (good), texts (good), photos (v good), email (not so good), web surfing (quite good), orange tv (not so good), sat nav (software bought seperate, pretty good), diary manegement (syncs with pc, - its works well) and video phone (worked ok).
I normally charge the phone every 2 days, so not bad.
So all in all a pretty decent phone, capable of most things.
Good on paper... bad in the hand
This phone looks great on paper, with an impressive array of features and a decent camera. But Nokia have really overstepped themselves here, and the results are disappointing.
The menu seems to be all Java, which means opening anything from Adress Book to Photos to Settings is slow as the phone loads the function into memory. And good luck in finding those super features - they are scattered across a menu system that is overly complex, and it is sometimes near impossible to find the setting to change without the manual.
Some "features" don't even come fully operational. The FM Radio was a big boon for me, but sadly it doesn't work out of the box, and seems to need additional spending to get working.
In addition, the hardware is not the most robust. I've had mine 3 months and now it no longer charges. Nokia directed me to a repair centre, and I learn from them that the N-70 and N-71 have had a LOT of issues, both soft and hardware. As of right now, I've been without the phone for over a week, and no sign of the repair being finished. Still, the 3210 they lent me in the meanwhile is a nice phone...
Great facilities...
While this phone has pretty much everything you could hope for, an amazing camera, web, games, a big memory etc it is a bit of a let down. It is extremely slow and tends to freeze and sometimes randomly turns itself off. The battery only last for about 2 days which can be very frustrating. While those are the two main problems I have had other such as when I try and send a text it simply won't work and I have had this problem many times, ring tones not working and my phone just not ringing when someone is calling among others. I would not recommend this phone.
