One of the best phones for everyday purposes
A friend of mine has the model below this one, so when I got the D600 he was well jealous, which is surely the most important thing when buying a new phone is it not? On a more serious note, I am really happy with my upgrade: it's sleek, stylish, user friendly, and has many premium features.
Here are some remarks on the specy side. The D600 has a top quality display with ultra high res, 256k colours and user friendly interface. The battery life is average. A memory card is not included, but the shared memory stores around 1000 images, 60 minutes of video, or 10-20 mp3s, and 512MB TransFlash cards are available. Multitasking is not possible, e.g. you cannot play mp3s and navigate menus at the same time or suchlike. The camera with flash and zoom is nice at 2 megapixels, but the camera is on the back section above the battery rather than the back of the sliding section like on the D500, and for some reason only videos can be viewed in fullscreen, not images. TV out capabilities are sweet, but there is, sadly, no radio, although the dual speakers make for a hifi stereo sound. Rather irritatingly, incoming call alert cannot be set to ring and vibration at the same time and only ascending ringtone is available.
I have heard this phone being called the best phone around for everyday purposes and I see no reason to disagree. Most of the flaws I have encountered or heard of I have mentioned above, but what phone doesn't have drawbacks? This is an excellent phone, with quality display and audio specs, a 2 megapixel camera, and other cool stuff. The D600 is highly recommended - you can't really go wrong.
You can use punctuation!
A response to the reviewer who wants to use speech marks and apostrophies in text messages - simply hold down the # key and a scrolling menu pops up with all the different symbols you could ever need at the push of a button!
This is a great phone, very user friendly and sturdy for a slide phone.
Plenty good enough
Had this phone for 4-5 months now, as an upgrade from a D500. Everything about the phone is better than its predecessor, except; I cannot use apostrophes and speech marks!!! Samsung obviously assume that anyone who texts uses 'txt spk' or whatever it's called. I don't. Bring back the punctuation Samsung! One other thing: You can have ring OR vibrate. Why not both? Would be useful.
