Manufacturer's Description
The SGH-E900 tri-band EDGE slider has a 2" 262K colors display with 240 x 320 pixels resolution. The phone is smaller than D870, weighs the same, but is thicker (16.5 mm). It also has 80 MB internal memory and a microSD card slot. E900 has a 2 megapixel camera and standard connectivity features like Bluetooth and USB. This new Samsung phone is also tri-band with EDGE support.
With a subtle 2 tone exterior, flowing lines and a super smooth sliding action the E900 doesn't compromise in any respect. Just 16mm thick and 93g in weight it still manages to feature a 2 megapixel camera with video and multimedia technology.

Fantastic phone
This phone is great, however for starters this is my first ever phone so I am not comparing this against anything, although I will try to write this accurately. I have had this for 4 months at the time of writing this review.
The phones number pad is clearly backlit and the buttons are sensibly sized. The buttons on the main body of the phone when it is slid up are, as you may have realized, touch sensitive. Initially these buttons were hard to use however it very quickly grows on you. They are similar in style to the LG chocolate's touch sensitive buttons.
The UI ( user interface) is easy to use and is the same as used on the E250 and D900 and probably many more. It uses 9 icons and then progresses into the common list format. One thing to note is whilst shortcut buttons can be personalized, the centre one cannot and this opens the browser. Since I am PAYG (pay as you go) I have probably lost a few pence worth of credit for accidentally pressing the button. Down the left hand side of the phone there are an up and down volume button for both the music player and the camera zoom. Down the right hand side is the headphone/ power adapter (where's a 3.5mm headphone jack oh well barely any phones have this), then there's the MP3 player (works regardless of whether phone is slide out or not) and camera (only activates when phone phone is slide out - lens would be obscured) shortcut buttons. Then there is the neat power button. A nice touch is at the top right corner of the phone there is a key chain hole although it is small probably to keep in with the phone's stylish look.
The Camera is 2.0MP however of course camera phones are notoriously bad this is far from the worse and on the phones brightly light and colourful screen colours are accurately reproduced. Video is pretty much the same and has a good frame rate giving a smooth video. I think the zoom is about 2-3x no nothing special, however you can zoom during videos.
The MP3 player is adequate and nothing special, and those 3 extra buttons are put to use for Mp3 use only (these are not lit otherwise which helps to keep the phone stylish.
There is a micro SD card slot (check compatibility)for extra music that can be used as an MP3 ringtone. These are available from most places (about £5 for 1GB and £12 for 2GB on Amazon) Also copying from phone to SD card and vice-versa is easy to use.
The phone is very small (smaller than D900 and E250) yet very stylish and as this was an important thing for me this essentially is one of the most stylish phones you can get and looks far more expensive than it is.
Could you please rate this since a lot of time went into this review ty
Lovely phone!
I have got the red/pink version of the SGH E900.
I do appreciate that some people may find the touchpad system hard to get used to. But I found that after using it for a while you learn to keep away from the quit button and not to touch the web button.
I love the graphics clarity and memory available.
The sound clarity is a little tinny when played loudly, but then again this is a phone not an MP3 player!
Mine does have a vibration and tone option, though as with other Samsungs this doesn`t happen at the same time - vibrates then plays the tone.
The red/pink colour doesn`t show the fingermarks as much and I don`t seem to have scratched it yet!
All in all, I have had many phones and this is my favourite (so far). I would definitely recommend this phone!
I am impressed
I have been using mobile phones for about 8 years now. The first phone i got was a nokia and i stuck with nokias up until a few months ago. I was in the market for a new phone and could not find a nokia that i liked. After a lot of thought i ended up on this samsung.
The reason i chose nokias in the past was primarily the simplicity of their operations. Of course the 8210 and 8310 were also very stylish. And for this reason i was concerned about his phone. Samsung's have the reputaion of beeing quite user unfriendly. This phone however has surprised me. Initially it appeared that i would have trouble using it. But after about a week i had figured everything out. The menu is very easy to use and some of the other functions are just a matter of getting used to.
The camera is 2 mp which is quite good. During the day the pictures are pretty good. The video is something the highly impressed me. However this is only during the day. When it comes to night time pics and videos this camera lets you down. The flash is not powerful enough and everything comes out dark.
This beeing a samsung of course the battery doesnt last really long. Phones like nokia and sony leave it standing. However compared to other samsung phones it really lasts a long time. On average use you would be looking at getting 3 full days out of it or maybe just a bit more.
Now to the really good stuff. If like me u like your phones to be stylish this is definately the phone for you. It is without doubt the sexiest phone I have ever seen (and yes that includes the LG Chocolate). The touch screen feature is really cool and generally its whole design is sleek. It is also quite thin and pretty light. The black screen just adds to the cool design. Talking about the screen... the colours are amazing and i was really impressed with its clarity. As you'd expect you get all the extras. Mp3 player, countdown, stopwatch, etc. The converter I found was quite above the standard. As with most brand new phones you can also insert a memory stick into the phone and upgrade your memory (although not any memory stick will do. The are memory sticks specific to this phone).
All in all this is a fantastic phone. I would reccommend it to anyone who is looking for a stylish phone and doesn't want to sacrifice any gadgets. Also just remember if I could get to grips with it, anyone can. One last piece of advice though. Be prepared to wipe it constantly cos finger marks show on the shiny black exterior. And if you are prone to droping your phone get a cover cos scratches will show like mad and it will ruin the experience.
