Product Description

The Nokia 8800 Sirocco mobile phone upgrades the original Nokia 8800 handset, adding and enhancing features to make it a worthy successor. Of course, one thing that hasn't changed is the iconic appearance. Although the casing and keypad aren't identical to the original 8800, the overall impression is still the same - a spectacularly luxurious design. It may be one of the mobile industry's supermodels, but the Nokia 8800 Sirocco offers practicality alongside its stunning good looks. There's a smooth metal case on the outside and an ingenious sliding mechanism to protect the keypad. The slide also covers the 2 megapixel camera, which will take photos that are good enough to print. Video recording is available as well, with the high-quality colour screen acting as an excellent viewfinder. But this isn't just an attractive little phone. It's an attractive little music player, too. Load your MP3 files into the Nokia 8800 Sirocco and enjoy your favourite tunes on the move. There'll be more melodies when someone calls, thanks to polyphonic and MP3 ringtones. And Bluetooth connectivity means this eye-catching handset is flexible enough for business or pleasure. Combining uncommon style with common sense, the updated Nokia 8800 is perfect for anyone who wants a chic camera phone.

    nothing special........3
Ok, this phone looks great, but it is sadly lacking in all other areas:

The look and feel is superb (although drop it once and you'll hate it). It is almost impossible to keep clean, although there is a nice case and cloth to help with this task - and you will need it.

The phone itself is incredibly slow - the OS is not very responsive. There is no expandable memory, the camera takes forever to save images, and the keyboard is one of the worst I have used.

The phone comes with a good selection of accessories, but after 6 months I am bored with it and find my newer 6300 is much more egonomic, has a better screen, and is easier to use.

If you are about to hand over £500 for this I would urge you to think again as it really doesn't warrant the price tag. I don't even think it is that exclusive any more, although you are wary of using it in areas where an opportunist might grab it.

    Big improvement on 88005
I ended up with the 8800Sirocco as an insurance replacement for the original 8800. The 8800 was classy, solid, reliable and a good phone but (i) had terrible baterry life (less than a day) and (ii) a useless camera (though it is a phone and not a camera).

The Sirocco edition is similar (I did prefer the stainless finish of the 8800 and you will need the little leather cloth to keep polishing Sirocco's body, but the battery life is double what it was - I can get 2 days typically now. The camera is also better (not great) and it still has a fantastic solid feel. The bluetooth headset with it is a delight and much better than Nokia's first bulky attempt.

The firm ware is much better and the software actually works with the Sirocco - the original was a waste of time linked to a PC.

Expensive but if you want a phone to live with worth while.

    Fantastic5
This is probably the best phone I have ever had and I had the 6230! This phone comes with every accessory you would every need even a dock with an ambiant light (to your own choice). Very fast OS and great camera. Only problem are the ringtones, I fixed this by getting a sony ericsson with the basic ring ring and sent it to myself.

If you have the money, buy it, not the 8800, its no way as good!
