DVD Description
The comedy adventure Fool's Gold follows Ben "Finn" Finnegan (Matthew McConaughey, Ed TV) as an affable, modern-day treasure hunter who is obsessed with finding the legendary 18th century Queen’s Dowry—40 chests of priceless treasure that was lost at sea in 1715. In his quest, Finn has sunk everything he has, including his marriage to Tess (Kate Hudson, How To Lose A Guy In 10 days). Just as Tess has begun to rebuild her life, working aboard a mega-yacht owned by billionaire Nigel Honeycutt (Donald Sutherland, Commander In Chief), Finn discovers a vital clue to the treasure’s whereabouts. Much to Tess’ consternation, Finn maneuvers himself aboard Nigel’s yacht and, using his roguish charm, convinces the tycoon and his celebutante daughter, Gemma (Alexis Dziena, Invasion), to join him in the pursuit of the Spanish riches. Even Tess can’t resist the lure of finally uncovering the treasure that had eluded them for so long. But they ! are not the only ones after the prize. Finn’s one-time mentor, Moe Fitch (Ray Winstone, Beowulf), and a ruthless local gangster named Bigg Bunny (Kevin Hart, In The Mix) are intent on beating Finn to the trove. Let the treasure hunt begin...

Fool's Gold is not as good as Sahara but, still good fun!3
Matthew McConaughey starred in a film called Sahara in the year 2005 and it was very much in the same vain as Romancing the Stone which starred Michael Douglas back in 1984. They were both action adventure films that had some comedy in them whilst hunting for lost treasure. I loved both those films and was really looking forward to Fool's Gold as it's in the spirit as those films only not as good, but I don't care as I love these types of films they are such good fun. The underwater scenes in Fool's Gold are breathtaking on Blu-ray and I for one am pleased that the new releases that I'm buying are having great Blu-ray transfers. If you want a good fun adventure film you could do alot worse then Fool's Gold, it's worth checking out if you like this type of film trust me.

Good light hearted fun!5
My goodness their are some moaners out there these days!
Looking at the above reviews, you would think this was a awful movie.

Fair play it isn't Cassablanca or Gone With The Wind. But it is still a very good lighthearted fun movie...

The acting is good, the storyline is excellent and the comedy is very good too.

If you want a serious movie, don't watch this, but for Gods sakes, don't take it as a serious movie and start spouting hate online about it!

Enjoy it for it's jokes, it's adventure and it's stunning scenery.

I liked it allot, and you might too!

Cute but not worth fooling with2
Benjamin Finnegan (Matthew McConaughey) in search a ship wreck with gold and other treasure alienates his wife Tess (Kate Hudson,) defaults on a loan from the local bad guy Bigg Bunny (Kevin Hart) and misplaces a boat.

Yet he finds a clue to the treasure and must placate Bigg Bunny, regain the appreciation of his wife, find a sugar daddy to finance his expedition and beat a rival to the claim. The sugar daddy turns out to be Nigel Honeycutt (Donald Sutherland). Nigel is on his own quest to regain if he ever had it the affection of his flibbertigibbet daughter Gemma (Alexis Dziena.)

Who will find the treasure (if there really is one)?
Will love or at least lust reappear to our forlorn treasure hunting couple?
Will daddy ever get the respect of this daughter?
Will we get board watching this formula movie that tries too hard?

I watched the Blu-ray version and even though it could not save the movie, they did a terrific job on the seascape and other visuals.
