Ideal phone for the elderly
I bought this mobile phone for my mother, I was fed up with shouting down my mobile to her because she could not here me. Now it's wonderful she can here me very clear. The buttons are large so she can see them without glasses and the display is large and clear. You can also set her 3 favourite numbers to quick dial buttons on the front. This has been a godsend to me and the rest of the family we have spent a small fortune on different mobiles and she could not hear much out of any of them. And it is very easy to charge with the docking station provided. All in all one of the best mobile phones for sight and hearing impared people on the market.
binatone big button - poor battery
Great design which works well generally but is let down by a very poor battery life.
I have bought 2 of these now for my father and each time the battery life is nowhere near the stated times, being almost unuseable in fact.
Also it is impossible to trace a replacement or extended battery on the internet from the battery or manual information and there is no online manual available from the manufacturer or elsewhere. The binatone helpdesk is also difficult to reach and very slow to respond unfortunately.
As this is a product for people who need help with technology I would like to support this but suggest you look elsewhere until the implementation and support reach acceptable modern standards.
Why so little competition?
Although I applaud the introduction of this phone I would question whether the makers ever consult the users - i.e. mainly the elderly. In addition to the flaws already posted by the other reviewers here's another design flaw. The SMS text letters on the keys are sideways and very small! It doesn't take a design genius to work that one out.
While I'm about it here are a few other observations
Why when there is a very large elderly population are there so few mobile phones suitable for them - literally an handful - all expensive compared to the average simple phone.
Lets hope the other manufacturers pull their fingers out and get some well designed, economical phones to the market - we've only been waiting 10 years
