    Brilliant5
I purchased one of these recently after seeing one in action and this unit is a significant impovement on the NB100 and the Asus/EeePC alternatives including the larger screen and significantly improved battery life.

Working with laptops, I've always been hesitant about netbooks but this machine builds it up perfectly, it's functional, easy to use and relativly straight forward to use. Significant advantages including the Intel Atom processor makes it very quick to browse, and also I believe this is the first netbook to have a built in HDD recovery partition so if you need to recover the system, you don't need a CD Drive.

Thanks to a Windows XP official download (not included) this system also supports .iso mounting and playback, so if you have a PC with a CD Drive you can create an .iso image and use a USB device to run software.

Only real disadvantage is the fact it does not come with a recovery CD in the box, but it does have the tools to create discs on the system. I would definatly advise getting an external CD/DVD drive if your getting a netbook, if anything software-related were to happen to damage the operating system it's the first thing your gonna need.

Overall I would definatly recommend this unit, and with the extended battery life (max of 9 hours - not really tested this yet but I have been installing software for 4 hours and still have 65% battery life) I would go for this model over the slightly cheaper model.

    After a few days5
I've now had this netbook for a few days, and I can say that I'm thoroughly impressed with it. The main selling points for me were the keyboard, the screen and the battery life, so I'll mention them individually below.

    Keyboard:
The keys are individiually spaced out with a gap between them, meaning you won't make many sitakes by hitting two keys at once as you may on other netbooks. The lay out is almost full sized too, so you don't feel that your fingers and hands are cramped, even after long periods of usage (using MSN for example).

    Screen:
It's very bright and clear, and despite the glossy cover to it, I have had no problem viewing the screen at all.

    Battery Life:
I haven't been able to get 9 hours out of it yet, but the battery life is certainly long enough for constant usage throughut the afternoon and evening. I'm sure if I were more careful (reducing the brightness, less graphically intense web browsing etc), I'd be able to eek out about 9 hours.

The webcam and built in microphone is very good for Skype usage and is still quite good in low-light conditions. The inbuilt speaker is pretty feeble, but again, it's good enough for use with Skype. The touchpad is quite large and easy to use with the side of the touchpad enabled for scrolling use.

This is the perfect computer if you're just using it for communication, youtube and some office work. It's light and doesn't get that warm so it's also perfect to have on your lap while watching tv.

I've also purchased a 2Gb ram chip which was very easy to install - just one screw to a flap on the underside.

Overall, this is a netbook which has learned from it's competitors mistakes in a neat, good looking package, which I would recommend to anyone.

Looks fantastic and seems to do the job4
I've had this netbook a few days now and thought I would write a review. First, why did I buy this one? I'd looked at Acer, Asus, Samsung and this and the NB200-10G. For my needs the 200-10Z came out on top. It has a slightly newer processor than the 200-10G and got better write-ups for build quality and general finish than the others. The Samsung looked fine, but I saw reports suggesting that the range on it's wifi was not good and good wifi reception was an 'essential' for me.
So, I ordered the NB200-10z. On first impressions, I was...well, very impressed. It looks fantastic and seems to be very well put together. The lid is not so much 'brown' - something which had made me think twice when considering ordering it - but I would describe it more as 'copper' - the diagonal texturing gives it a good finish, anyway, with 'Toshiba' in silver across the lid in large, silver letters. Inside, the keyboard area is silver and the surrounds to the 10.2" screen repeats the 'copper' (brown?) finish, again with a diagonal line pattern. The 'on/off' button is centrally positioned below the screen and can also be accessed when the lid is shut, as the button is positioned on a cylindrical piece which sits between the two 'hinges'.
The keyboard itself is a dream, in my view. The keys are slightly raised form the surface and there is good separation between adjacent keys. Everything seems to come to hand logically; cursor keys are positioned out of the way to maximise the 'useful' space for the main keyboard functions and good use is made of the function keys which are clearly marked with their respective function. The touch pad is also a good size and I have used it quite happily (though I prefer a mouse generally).
I had a slight drama when first 'loading' the operating system - it seems that the first switch-on causes the operating system to initiate itself and after a while mine told me I might have to wait for 'several minutes' and not to turn the computer off in the meantime. It seemed to get stuck in some kind of loop and after 70 minutes I was still being told to wait for 'several minutes'; I was a bit stuck, so called the Toshiba helpline (UK number). They answered immediately (which is always nice) but said they couldn't ADVISE me to switch the computer off though it "sounded like it had crashed", so the only answer night be to switch it off! So, I took the gamble and switched off - switched back on and everything was fine. I was slightly disappointed with the lack of actual help from the helpline (though I can see they have to cover their backsides) as I was in a real quandary; nevertheless, it all turned out fine.
Since then, it's been great. It runs Windows XP which is all fine; boots up and shuts down quickly and the whole thing has been a joy. The only slight downside (hence 4 stars) is the speaker, as noted elsewhere - I knew this was the case (because the reviews said so), so am not particularly surprised, but the speaker is indeed pretty terrible - quiet, tinny and scratchy; my solution will be to buy some sort of portable speaker(s) such as the XMI X-mini II Mini Speaker.
Overall, though, I'm very impressed - good build quality, very nice looking and does the job. And there's a responsive helpline, so no sitting around waiting for someone to answer the phone (unless I was unlucky) - oh, and the battery life is impressive - I've not tested it by bleeding it dry, but it certainly seems to last well. The speaker is not up to much, so I wouldn't buy this specifically to listen to music (not without additional speakers, anyway), but it's fine for Skype, etc (and the web cam seems very good). In summary, you could do much worse than the Toshiba NB200-10z.
