The Beach (Penguin Celebrations)The Beach (Penguin Celebrations) by Alex Garland

Wasn't sure i'd like this , but I got it free with The Times and gave it a go. Really glad I did as it was excellent. Film was atrocious and Hollywoodised.
Join Me: The True Story of a Man Who Started a Cult by AccidentJoin Me: The True Story of a Man Who Started a Cult by Accident by Danny Wallace

Another charity shop find . Not quite as good as The Beach but still well worth a go.
SnuffSnuff by Chuck Palahniuk

Poorly reviewed but I liked . A typically dark and twisted book about the filming of the worlds biggest gang bang.
Black Like MEBlack Like ME by John Howard Griffin

Pretty controversial for its time . A white man undergoing a medical procedure to darken his skin and keeping a diary of his experiences of racial prejudice in the 1950's deep south.
Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and InheritanceDreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance by Barack Obama
Buy new: £4.49 / Used from: £1.59
Like a lot of people swept up on his election win I gave this a go. I suppose I should have expected it from a politicians memoirs ..worthy but a bit dull . The only one of the year I gave up on.
HauntedHaunted by Chuck Palahniuk

Pretty disgusting in places but I thought this was an excellent book from another of my favourite authors . Uniquelly written and structured.

Got this for christmas and it seemed like a bit of light hearted fun to end the year on ...especially following Haunted , haven't got that far yet.
