"We couldn't help but wonder, as we looked at her from across her
desk, whether these (estate) agents were actually manufactured in some sort
of agent factory...I had images of the Omen film in my head. I imagined
that if I held her head down on the desk, and Lara moved aside her hair
instead of 666 marked on her scalp, we'd probably find "Made in Taiwan."

Judging by the look on her face I reckon she was having the exact same
thought about us. The only difference being that when she moved our hair
aside she would find the
word "MUGS" written on our scalps."

Things The Estate Agents Don't Tell You4
I bought this book as my husband and I are thinking about retiring to Cyprus and maybe try letting a property. We found this book extremely helpful as the author has given his experiences with rentals and management companies and gives useful information as to things to avoid and look out for.

It contains loads of information on buying, selling and renovating properies too, but isn't just a factual book. It's been written telling the story of the author and his wife, from when they decided to move out to Cyprus to actually living and dealing with the realities of what they had decided to do.

The story is told in a humorous way and keeps you griped wanting to know what happens to them next.

I would recommend this book to anyone looking to move to Cyprus or invest in any kind of property in Cyprus as there is lots of useful information. It's also a good read anyway for anyone dreaming about a life elsewhere in the sun to see the realities!

You Must Buy This Book5
If you are in any way considering buying property in Cyprus then you have to read this brilliantly written humourous and informative book.
My Wife and I are considering moving to Cyprus and this book is certainly going to be my Bible to help protect us from the pitfalls and those who would part us from our money for thier own benefit. How good is this book? Well I read it in one day and enjoyed all of it. The story of a can do couple fighting through a sea of sharks and ultimatly learning some lessons the hard way but fighting through.

Oh Dear!3
Have to disagree with some of the reviews on here. Yes, this book is a good read and does give you an insight into the many problems one may encounter in the shark-infested waters of 'Estate Agents' in Cyprus.

However, one must be clear about the actual book itself. It is riddled with typos, spelling mistakes and bad grammar etc. I find it unlikely this book was ever proof-read because of the many errors. I do understand that the book is written by a 'first timer' and the author does state that he is no writer but it IS let down by silly errors such as a quote from Star Trek's Dr Spock! Just for the record, Star Trek's Spock was NOT a doctor but Dr McCoy was. This may sound like nit picking but this is just one of the many errors.

I also could not help feeling that the couple were somewhat naive to say the least. Reading this out aloud to my wife we quickly came to the conclusion that the author and his wife saw pound signs and less a new life. Buy-to-let's, property renovation and off-plans all within a few weeks...Hmmm.

So, should you buy it? Well it will help you get an insight into buying property and that is the reason for the book even if it is a little overpriced. Buy it for research but not for a well presented informative read.
