Product Description

SIXTIESTYLE is a fascinating and colourful guide to all aspects of decoration and design in the 1960s home. Packed with full colour illustrations and photographs, the book shows the choices available to consumers during this period. David Heathcote has drawn on MoDA’s extensive collection of retail and trade catalogues, domestic magazines and household manuals to produce a vibrant and beautifully illustrated guide to the 1960s interior.

No other guide is as comprehensive in its coverage of the features of a home. Detailed sections include bathrooms and kitchens; fixtures and fittings; furniture; wallpapers and paints; carpets, cushions and upholstery; lighting; fireplaces and heating; and finishing touches. Each area is covered in comprehensive detail in a way that is highly informative while at the same time hugely enjoyable to read.

Customer Reviews

A wonderful time travelling experience5
This colourful and interesting book would make a great gift to anyone who lived through this exciting decade, or indeed anyone who missed it. I remember many of the items of furniture, kitchenware and curtain and carpet patterns from the time and these are all outlined and pictured in the various different chapters. The size is especially good, not too large and ideal for flicking through or displaying on the coffee table!

Very colourful and highly recommendable - with this book along with the other three in the series: "Turn of the Century Style", "Thirtiestyle" and "fiftiestyle", I have entertained many a dinner party guest.
