Product Description

Make the most of the D700s many capabilities with this key technical guide to every feature of the high-end, semi-pro model. The new D700 sits squarely in Nikon's professional line-up in between the D3 and the D300. This 12.1 mega pixel model has the same incredible build quality and reliability as the D3 but is more compact. "Nikon D700" is a sturdy, well-produced guide and its laminated covers mean it's ready to go anywhere the camera does.

Customer Reviews

Superb5
If you've read the Nikon D700 Digitial Field Guide you'll understandably be reluctant to fork out on another user guide. Especially as the aforementioned field guide treats the reader as if he has never touched an SLR before in his life.

This guide however, is a much more mature read with some genuine tips throughout the book which give the writer's view on the best way to set up the camera. This is what I was looking for and I've made changes to the camera based on this book.

The book is very comprehensive and has a great section on flash and using external speedlights. It's not pretty on the eye (no colour pictures) but it's very well written and treats the reader like the advanced amateur/pro he/she should be.

Superb, In-Depth Technical Read5
Are you fed up with wading through camera reference guides aimed at beginners looking for the hidden nuggets of useful information? Do you want a technical manual which neatly dovetailes with and supplements the supplied Nikon user manual? This is the book for you. How many D700 owners are new to DSLR photography? My guess would be very few indeed. You want a no-frills, un-padded technical read which tells you what you need to know about the D700, and doesn't patronise with half baked explanations of non-specific basic photography techniques. Simon Stafford has taken the trouble to work closely with Nikon support experts to glean valuable additional information which will take you one step closer to really understanding exactly how this superb camera functions. If there is any criticism, it's that the black & white sample photos are almost pointless in most instances. They should have been rendered in colour. That aside, if you are already au fait with DSLR photography, and have scoured the user guide but have unanswered questions, this is the one book you should definitely buy. An excellent read, and permanent reference.

The book that should come with the camera5
The Nikon D700 manual is much more useable then most - however it is unlikely an instruction manual will inspire you to be a more creative photographer.
This magic lantern guide helps you tell your camera how you see the world. It is easy to find information and you digest much more photographic theory and general good practice than you realise.
If you have invested in a D700 then you should spend just a little more and invest in the book that shows you how to use all of it.

In my opinion Nikon should bulk buy copies of this and include it with every camera !
