Frank Duerden wrote walking guides to many areas of Britain, including the Lake District, the Pennines, Snowdonia, the Yorkshire Dales and the Peak District.

Andrew Midgley works as a Freelance Photographer, and has travelled widely throughout the UK and Europe on book projects for major publishers. He exhibits in a number of UK galleries and sells limited edition fine art prints. He has been taking photographs for many years and has an MA in Visual Communications. His main focus is the landscape, though the term is used very broadly to include both natural and man-made environs.

Tom Holman is a freelance writer living in Lindale in the southern Lake District. He has walked extensively in the Lakes, having been carried up his first fell at the age of 18 months. Before going freelance, Tom worked for The Bookseller, the weekly magazine for the books business.

good useful intersting guide
Loads of local history help this book and the walks we used were good and nicely graded, but the route maps were a little awkward at first, and you do need a map.
