Truly awful
Football DVD for those that fancy Tim and Jamie (they probably bought it themeselves then!!). I agree with the previous review. How does Jamie Illiterate still get TV work?
Decent footage, poor presentation
I would love to know who it is that continues to give Jamie Redknapp television work. The man can barely string a sentence together, his commentary style consists of simply saying exactly what just happened but with the addition of the word 'literally' plus some other ludicrously obvious observations e.g. "and he's literally just jumped in the air and got great contact on it, and as a striker thats what you want".....I havent bothered counting, but in this 58 minute video I would guess that Redknapp says the word 'literally' about 20 times. Lovejoy is OK, and the footage is great, but the whole thing is overshadowed by how terrible Redknapp is in front of a camera.
Wonderful
It's taken me many years to get over my ill-advised purchase of `Apocalypse Clarkson' on VHS - a video that was just another example of a talentless TV hack putting his name on an awful, cheaply produced product to top up his bank balance.
Thankfully none of these traits are evident in Lovejoy and Redknapp's Best of Football, which provides the viewer with hours of fun and entertainment.
It's refreshing to see the presenters at the top of their game throughout the DVD. Lovejoy charms as always with his gentle manner, self-deprecation and incredible knowledge and passion for the beautiful game. His co-star Redknapp, the Richie Benaud of football punditry, brings his deep understanding of tactics and well-documented insightful analysis to the table - and it works a treat.
For once I find myself agreeing with Steven Gerrard, this DVD truly is different class.
