About Us
Norwood English began offering distance learning courses in 1995 and were the first to offer courses via the internet. Since 2001 we have been registered in Ireland although we continue to operate throughout the world with tutors based in seven countries. We also have affiliate agreements with language schools, government training providers and educational specialists world-wide.
Successful trainees work in over forty different countries. Many trainees are non-native speakers working in the public sector in a variety of locations, mostly in Asia.
We currently offer these courses:
Certificate In Teaching English as a Foreign Language [120 Hours]
Enrollment to this course is open to all. The only requirement is a good standard of English. This is for anyone studying his or her first course in TEFL or TESL.
Certificate in Grammar for Teachers of English as a Foreign Language [50 Hours]
Enrolment is open to all. It is a course in the basics of English grammar for anyone who wants to teach English and is even useful for experienced teachers.
Diploma in TEFL [240 Hours]
This is a research based course. Experience is required or you need to have done a certificate course such as ours.
Certificate in Teaching Children [160 Hours]
This course consists of four main units. The trainee also receives a collection of readings which are integral to the course.Assessment is continuous and based on performance in eight assignments, two for each unit. These mostly take the form of short essays.The course is graded with ‘A’ being the highest grade and ‘Pass’ the lowest.
Certificate in Teaching Business English [160 Hours]
This new course comprises three main units plus assorted readings and examples of materials. The course assumes a basic knowledge of EFL techniques and methods.
The principal director of Norwood English is Graham Patchett who has worked in several countries including Japan, Ireland and the UK.
