Amazon.co.uk Review
Ever spent half the night worrying that you are going to wind up penniless in your old age? No? Then it's high time you did, according to the second edition of the Motley Fool's UK Investment Guide. The Fool lays bare the murky world of personal investment; how independent financial advisers aren't so independent, how unit trusts are badly managed, how putting your money in the building society is often the least safe option and how the professionals have a vested interest in keeping you in the dark.

Fortunately, the Fool also explains, in words of one syllable, how to work the system to your advantage. So even the most financially challenged should be able to understand. In fact, as with all Foolish titles, it is only the style of the book that may cause problems, as the relentless schoolboy humour does get irritating after a while. But stick with it, because you don't get information like this anywhere else, and the book has something for everyone--from those just looking to make one good decision about their finances before forgetting about the whole thing, to those who want to take a more active role. Totally revised and updated from the first edition, The Motley Fool UK Investment Guide may not save you a fortune, but it could just make you one. --John Crace

Using practical examples and with their usual off-the-wall style, the Fools cut through financial jargon and take you through the basics of investing. Customer Reviews

Great book, needs an update but the principle still very valid4
The original American version published over a decade ago changed the way I thought about personal finance and I recently bought this UK version to update myself. It's written in a friendly easy to understand manner and will remind you why banks and insurance companies all have large glamorous buildings. Bring your finances under your own control, read this book.

I'd have given it 5 stars if it had been updated in the last year or two, but most of the theory still holds good.

Good but contradictory4
As promised this book, is simple clear and easy to follow. It strips bear the world of personal finance and allows you to take control of things for yourself. The confusion for me is that it directly contradicts an earlier book from the Motley Fool Team. I have followed `how to make your child a millionaire' and this book actually advises against some of the strategies that `how to make your child a millionaire' teaches.

Make Yourself Rich5
Quite simply this book is brilliant. It is one of those rare works that makes you want to act now.It is easy and exciting to read; the information contained is very simple to understand. You can live without a pension. The plan works. It would be difficult to walk away from this title without investing for your future. If you only read one book in this lifetime, make it this one. To the Authors- I thank you!
