A fantastic testimony to rebellion5
A wonderful and truly inspiring read - political perhaps, but far more than just being another 'rise up and revolt' manifesto, it's a deeply human and moving story. After spending his life involved in various forms of cultural subversion and having witnessed the appalling (though clever) actions of the state in stamping out all and any activity that even hints at a challenge to the UK state, Penny Rimbaud arrives at an almost philosophical view of how we can most effectively use our personal spirit of rebellion. I really felt this was an important book - for anyone living in the UK - especially if you suspect there may be a little more to life than aspiring toward a bigger car, mortgage and comfy sofa, and that perhaps there could be a sinister edge to the fact that so many people find their lives unwittingly subdued and dominated by these socially constructed/state controlled desires. Made me ask real questions about my own life, the compromises I have made, and what I'm going to do about them...

A must read for anyone who cares about people and freedom5
Having had the priviledge of meeting Penny recently, I thought this was going to be a rather special book. While I was growing up my attitude to life was partly influenced by Crass and the whole anarcho-pacifist philosophy. This book perfectly explains how the hippy movement was forced into militancy by 'the system' and of one man's part in it. Let's be straight, this is not an easy book to read. It chops and changes from reality to parable to poetry and back again, but the lasting impression it has left me with is one of total honesty, imtegrity and a deeply caring attitude. This is a book which has shaken me out of my apathy and started to make me think again about what is happening in the world.

Recommended reading for those with a 'free' mind.5
An interesting insight into how events throughout Penny's life have shaped his psyche and attitude into being one of life's great 'outsiders', watchful and often hateful of the 'grey people' of society. His account of how Wally Hope became a victim of the UK government's agencies, is worth the cover price alone. Recommended reading for those with a 'free' mind, and those curious to how Crass came to exist in popularity and notoriety.
