McDermott has been at the very top of British Rugby League for more than a decade, starring for Oldham, Wigan and Leeds and earning caps for England, Ireland and Great Britain. But what is not widely known is that McDermott has achieved all this despite having lost an eye in a shooting accident when he was just 15. Away from rugby he has had regular brushes with the law - and in 1996 made headlines when he was the first person in the country to be arrested by police using CS gas. He later spent time behind bars after skipping bail to play for Leeds in a match in Paris, being arrested as he got off the plane on the homeward journey. He has appeared before the Rugby Football League's disciplinary committee many times, missing over 40 matches through suspension.

Barrie McDermott played first for Oldham then joined Wigan in 1994, becoming a core member of the most successful Rugby League side of all time. He now plays for Leeds Rhinos as well as the Great Britain team.

Honest and Truthful5
I can only describe this book as to be one of the most honest and truthful autobiographies I have read in a long time. Funny in places, Barrie's book is well written and very difficult to put down once you have started it. A great read for Leeds Rhinos fan, and for for all other Rugby League fans.

Great Rugby League Book5
If you are into Rugby League this is a great book. It gives a great insight into the life of a rugby player (especially one like Barry Mac)

You could enjoy reading this book if you knew nothing about Rugby League, if you are a Rugby League fan then it's a must buy. Barrie McDermott has always given 100% to every club he's played for and gives 100% here. Read it and laugh..........
