Jonny Wilkinson has set the rugby world alight since his international debut in 1998. In this revealing diary of the 2000-01 season, he takes the reader behind the scenes of his career at Newcastle Falcons, England and on to the British Lions tour to Australia in summer 2001. He talks about the players' strike in November, the foot and mouth crisis, his preparation for the matches, training, what really goes on on the pitch - and provides a fascinating insight into his life away from the rugby field. LIONS AND FALCONS builds up to a riveting portrait of the modern professional rugby world, viewed from the very pinnacle of the sport.

About the Author
Jonny Wilkinson became England's youngest international for 71 years when he made his debut at 18 years old in March 1998. Since then he has rapidly established himself as England's regular fly-half. By mid November 2002, still only 23, he had won 37 caps and already scored 576 points - easily the highest of all time for England. He has also won three British Lions caps.

a true reflection of this exceptional player
This really does provide an inside look at one of the best rugby players of today. Everything about it the emotions and feelings revealed inside show you the remarkable man behind the player. A definate must read for any Wilkinson and or union fans, definatly one of the best books i've read.
A must have for all rugby and jonny fans!
I actually bought the book as a christmas present for a friend, and after reading the first few pages in the shop, i couldnt wait to borrow it so that i could read the rest!I had finished it within two days- it was gripping, witty, informative and very interesting- I was unable to put it down! The book gives an insight into Jonny's life- on and off the rugby field- it shows his complete commitment to the game and his career. It also shows what a genuinely nice bloke he is- god only knows why he's still single!! To sum up: if you're a rugby fan or a jonny fan you really must buy this book (and if you're not a jonny fan you will be by the time you've read Lions and Falcons!)Well done Jonny!
An excellent read for rugby and Jonny fans alike
I am both a rugby fan and a Jonny fan and i found this book hard to put down. It is very humourous and witty- including details of Jonny's personal life and childhood, routines, christmas, hobbies, family, etc- and is also full of rugby talk. The book covers the whole of the 2000-2001 season with Newcastle's every game reviewed, all of the highs and lows, the Tetley Bitter cup rounds and gruelling final, gossip on Jonny's club and country team mates, and reviews of every England match. This book manages to incorperate every part of rugby. Jonny Wilkinson manages to show readers what life is like as a professional rugby player in an interesting, informative and humourous way. A definate must-have for all rugby (and Jonny!!) fans!!!!!
