For the very first time, a stunning collection of 150 intimate and revealing stories about Brian Howard Clough. Big names, close friends and confidantes take you into the dressing room, boardroom, players' bar and team bus with their personal recollections of the greatest manager England never had.
They also lead you into Cloughie's office, garden, heart and mind, showing how a raging bull one minute could pay an old lady's shopping bill the next. Laced with pearls and putdowns from Old Big 'Ead himself, highlighting his unique humour and philosophy, this book takes you closer to the real Brian Clough than ever before.
Read first-hand accounts from his big-name players like Peter Shilton, Trevor Francis, Martin O'Neill, Larry Lloyd, Teddy Sheringham and many more along with some lesser known players with tales to tell! Clough's gardener reveals secrets away from the football arena, while Clough's secretary also speaks for the first time. A truly fantastic collection of stories by the people who really did know Cloughie best.
Discover how Clough landed Maradona's signature. Find out why he kicked a Liverpool star up the backside. Read about his astonishing bid to get Elton John. Editorial Reviews
From the Publisher
Author Dave Armitage got to know Clough personally during his 25 years as a national newspaper football writer in the Midlands. He interviewed Clough at his City Ground office, in a pub garden and in the legend's home. Just as importantly, he moved in circles with the players, staff and friends who really did get up close and personal with the master. Now, he's put together a unique collection of all the stories the players tell about life in the eye of Hurricane Brian. 150 BC takes you behind the scenes to take a glimpse at the person behind the brash image.
From the Author
Having read ALL of the books published about Brian Clough, there seemed to be one yawning gap. As a national newspaper sports writer who frequently ghosted columns for Clough, I would invariably be asked to recall stories about the most charismatic manager of all time. Over the years I collected(in my head) fantastic anecdotes from players, staff, journalists and associates that always proved fantastic entertainment value in bars all over the world. No one, it seemed, had thought about compiling them into a collection so those not lucky enough to be that close, could enjoy them too! And so, 150 BC was born as an idea. Originally it started as 100 BC, but pretty quickly it was apparent that wouldn't be enough to do justice to the most original and innovative force to ever sweep through the game.

150 BC
You will never have to read a book about Brian Clough again after this one. There has never been a better attempt to explain the complex character of one of the world's great football managers and one of the world's No1 personalities. This book is from the people that knew him for the people who would like to know him.
The Special One50
This book is a great read but the only let down is that it has to come to an end.
I'm trying to read it slowly and make it last longer.
The stories remind me of Roald Dahl's - Tales of the Unexpected, with some amazing twists coming at the end of most of them.
It would be great if they were turned into a series of short plays on the radio or even the TV.
Well Done DA.
150 BC : CLOUGHIE THE INSIDE STORIES
The best Cloughie book I've read! A cracking read from story 1 to 150....the only complaint I have is that it kept keeping me up half the night as I was always wanting to read just 1 more story before going to sleep! Well done Dave....any chance of another 150?
