'Just the present for over-excited toddlers in need of a little energy displacement. More than just a picture book, this sing-along, find-the-animal extravaganza, will get young children dancing from beginning to end, as they stomp like an elephant, shake with the bear. With printed music, audio CD and rhythmic text, there is much to enjoy here (and at a reasonable price) - not least the lively, high volume pictures showing an impossible, but totally beguiling jiving jungle world'- Independent magazine --Independant Magazine'The vibrant, fun illustrations in this book are packed full of jungle animals to find and count. About the Author
essa Strickland is the co-founder and publisher of Barefoot Books. The second of five children, she was brought up in rural Yorkshire and spent most of her childhood among ponies, dogs, cows, hens, hamsters and other animals. Her father was a stoic Yorkshireman who never went anywhere. However, her mother was a New Zealander who corresponded weekly with friends from the other side of the world and who had a steady stream of relatives passing through the house as part of their European travels. Perhaps this is why she became intrigued at an early age by the notion of friendship at a distance, and by the passage of ideas across continents. After a long illness as a teenager, her interest swung from ponies to books and became fascinated by the beliefs and values of different cultures. She now divides her time between caring for her three children, Francis, Rollo and Zoe, and running Barefoot Books, which she regards as her fourth and most demanding child. Debbie Harter was born and raised in England, and she currently lives in Penzance, Cornwall. She has participated in all kinds of artistic ventures, creating jewelery, textiles, ceramics, mirrors and candles. Now Debbie works primarily in book illustration, and with her bold and vibrant style, has created many of Barefoot Books' most successful titles, including Herb, the Vegetarian Dragon (1999), The Animal Boogie (2000) and the best-selling Bear series.

Boogie Woogie Oogie....5
Don't buy this unless you're willing to perform it at least once a day! Great fun though, and our 20-month daughter loves it. Bright, colourful illustrations of various jungle animals and scenes, and cheery song on CD (not one of those high-pitched singers favoured by nursery rhyme albums). Follow in the book as you stomp, leap, flap and swing around the room. Recommended as a 5 minute aerobic workout for parents too.

Well loved book5
This is a colourful beautifully illustrated book illustrating the animal boogie song. My children have enjoyed it at daycare so we purchased it for home, and were fortunate to also receive a cd with the song on it. My children love the colourful book, but it's hard to get them to spend long looking at the book - they just want to dance the animal boogie!

brilliant colours, wonderful rhythm, catchy words5
I first borrowed this book from the library for my son, aged almost three. He loved it so much that we have bought a copy for him, and four more for his friends and relatives.

The book is a series of "down in the jungle" segments, with different animals, doing different actions, but all joining in the animal boogie: "boogie woogie oogie". Each animal is being watched by a different child. My son loves to join in with this, and has his own very special boogie woogie oogie dance! He loves the bright illustrations, too.
It's a wonderful book to share with children of about two and a half upwards. A friend's six year old loves it just as much! As a parent, I like the fact that each animal is marked with it's proper name and where it comes from on the final page. The children are also a good mix, including children of different ethnic groups. There are plenty of opportunities for talking points.

I'd highly recommend this book to parents, friends and relatives of any child who loves to share books!
