Expensive treatment1
Oh, what a dissapointment. After reading this book half-way through and getting all excited about starting this nutritional programme, I finally chequed out the website.... $450 for the supplements needed for six weeks of treatment!
One of the things that make me drink more than is good for me, is my worry about money matters. Well, at the moment it's cheaper for me to keep drinking to block out the depression and worry, than to buy all these pills, that may or may not make a difference. I wish I had known that before thinking there may be a way out of this downward spiral of drinking and then worrying about drinking....
Good luck to you if you deceide to try this and can afford it.

A waste of money1
I agree with the basic premise of the book that there is a genetic physical cause to alcoholism (rather than just a lack of willpower) and that therefore some folks are more susceptible than others. And the small bit about identifying various alcoholic types was interesting. However, the recommendations for cure (the bulk of the book) are preposterous. If the recommendation "You're going to be taking a lot of vitamins, minerals and amino acids, up to sixty a day...." doesn't put you off. Then perhaps the advice to cut out sugar, caffeine, dairy and wheat products totally from your diet, might do the trick !! It's just not workable. I would have been more impressed had the author suggested a dietary plan to ensure the correct intake of all the apparently necessary minerals etc. through your normal daily diet.

An alterntive approach for tackling alchohol addiction.5
If you know you have a problem with alchohol but can not buy into the AA model, this book may be your solution. It offers a compelling research base and practical strategies for tackling alchoholism from a nutritional basis. I joined no groups and had only a physical from my doctor. No one was aware of anything but my loving partner.

After reading the book I immediately set about purchasing the nutritional supplements and planning my regimen of diet and exercise for the seven weeks. The relief of finally having a plan was intense. The the joy of discovering that it actually worked is indescribable. At the end of seven weeks I was safely on the path to recovery. I am now approaching my fourth anniversary and have never looked back. In fact I grow happier and healthier every year.

Discovering the link between alchohol and depression was a revelation. What I now realize was appaling depression has just disappeared. I used to drink to be able to deal with my life. The same life now fills me with joy and contentement, and nothing has altered but my drinking and diet. The roller-coaster life of highs and lows has been replaced by balance and control.

If achohol has you or someone you love in its grip this alternative approach may be your solution.
