Product Description

This book is a comprehensive look at the luxury yacht industry from the perspective of working on board. Not only does it discuss what the industry is exactly, but how it works. What qualifications and/or paperwork are required for crew, what jobs are available and where, when and how to find them. It will also give you a real insight into what living aboard is really like. There are stories of those already working in yachting giving up-to-date and sound advice. It is not a a training manual for safety at sea and it is not a "how to" book on sailing. It doesn't tell you about navigation, what knots to tie, rules of the road, weather, burgees and the rest. Instead, this book gives anyone with a taste of wonderlust what it is really like to live and work in one of the most exclusive, jet-set industries on earth.

Customer Reviews

this is how you get a job5
This is a great book for people who want to join the yacht industry, but don't have a clue how. I wish I would have found it earlier, but since it is brand new, it is nearly impossible. It is worth every penny, and in the end it will save you a lot of money.

What a find!5
This book was bought for my son who is 17 and eager to work on a yacht when he's 18 and can do the necessary training. For one who has disliked reading for the sake of it (school to blame) he has read it and enthused about it's reality every evening since receiving it. It has opened his eyes to the reality of sailing on yachts and super yachts despite which he is more enthusiastic than ever. It was recommended by UKSA after he had done a couple of courses and he can't wait to get back to do a crew training course with them.
