Synopsis
However well you know London, there's always more to be uncovered. New events and attractions, or familiar buildings or vistas seen from a different angle. A stroll across Waterloo Bridge or dinner after dark in St. James's Park; a canal walk in Camden or a glass of champagne from the top of a city skyscraper. Discover a secret garden in Chelsea, take a lifeboat ride on the Thames; eat a bagel in Golders Green, fly a kite on Hampstead Heath; spend a morning in Billingsgate market, an afternoon in Battersea Park zoo. Packed with ideas from unusual takes on well-known attractions to quirky walks and must-visit restaurants and shops; from once-in-a-lifetime experiences to everyday pleasures - many of them absolutely free. We'll show you how to fall for London all over again.

fantastic for Londoners
I have lived in London a few years now, and I love being able to find the really interesting and off the wall things to do in this fab city. I bought this book for a friend, and then spent the next 2 days buried in it myself, and I started to write down ideas to take back to me. After 5 pages of my notes on the book, I decided it would be far simpler to get myself a copy!
it lists everything from places to eat, to museums you'cve probably never heard of, together with lots of free activities and it isn't expecially aimed at tourists which is refreshing. A really different take on London and I'm a big fan.
For Londoners
Unashamedly aimed at Londoners this book would be next to useless for a first time tourist to London wanting to do the 'sights' in a weekend.
Other than that my greatest criticism is that it really needs maps showing the location of entries and linking them back to the text, or at very least an index by, say postcode.
It is full of good ideas but many of them require a bit of time to do, you also need a reasonable knowledge of London to know where everything is.
It is in the style of a newspaper article. The random nature of the entries (which they consider part of its charm, I consider laziness) is also frustrating for anyone wanting to find a particular type of activity, although there is an index by category. The main index I found inadequate, as I couldn't find things I knew were in the book in the index.
Brilliant book
For those lacking inspiration or looking for a new adventure in the world's greatest city, buy this book!
It's packed full of interesting and fun stuff to do in the capital, for all budgets and interests.
