Whitetree is the name chosen for a thrilling new project which unites the multiple talents of the Italian pianist/composer Ludovico Einaudi and the Lippok brothers from Germany, Ronald and Robert, who record together as To Rococo Rot. Cloudland is an important contribution to the century-old search for the merging of classical and electronic music.
Einaudi has created his own niche in music. Grandson of an Italian President, he studied with Luciano Berio and has evolved a particular style of contemporary classical composition leaning heavily towards ambient minimalism, whilst influenced by world and pop music. He sells tens of thousands of CDs (recording for Decca) and sells out large concert halls worldwide. He has also contributed significantly to soundtrack composition, and his work is well suited to television. Tracks from his Divenire album have been used for Sky Sports football and for Wimbledon tennis coverage, plus Top Gear, Zhivago and Holby City; other tracks have appeared in the films The Reader and This is England; and several more have been used for adverts. He has recorded with the great Malian kora player Ballaké Cissoko and with Armenian virtuoso Djavan Gasparyan.
Robert Lippok (electronics) and Ronald Lippok (drums) are best known as two-thirds of To Rococo Rot, the post-rock electronica trio who have recorded for Kitty-yo, City Slang, Domino, Staubgold and Sub Pop, and provided music for several exhibitions and installations. Robert also pursues several solo projects, whilst Ronald is half of Tarwater.

Not quite your normal expected Einaudi performances - but a very interesting collaboration between his piano playing and those other instruments of Whitetree as a whole ... definitely worth a listen, you won't be disappointed!
