Synopsis
This reader brings together carefully selected material from a wide range of authors on the relationships between science, religion, and theology. It samples the recent literature on the challenges to religion posed by both modern physics and evolutionary biology, as well as exploring the relationship between scientific and theological approaches. Topics include models of interaction between science and religion, historical reflections on the 'conflict thesis', scientific and theological methods, creation and modern cosmology, uncertainty and chaos, creationism and evolutionary theory, the anthropic principle and design, and the challenge of reductionism.

Valuable Material
Science and Religion is becoming a subject that people are aware of - no longer the automatic assumption that the two are in conflict that was common up until 20 yrs ago or so. This great change in understanding has been largely fueled by a fairly small number of authors, and this text gives short introductions to many of them. On the asumption that few people are going to read the primary sources, books like this are invaluable, not least for those who teach courses on the subject. And yes, there are now many courses at university level on science and religion - for which a text like this is invualuable. Its not limited to the intellectual high flyers though, it would form a useful study book for a church discussion group.
