Synopsis
This work by noted theologian Neil Gillman is an intellectual and spiritual milestone. It is addressed to anyone interested in the meaning of life, as well as the meaning of death. THE DEATH OF DEATH explores the original and compelling argument that Judaism (a religion often thought to pay little attention to the afterlife), not only offers us rich ideas on this subject, but actually delivers a fatal blow to death itself. By exploring Jewish thought about death and the afterlife, this fascinating work presents us with challenging new ideas about our lives. In hardback, this title one a number of awards including Publisher's Weekly Best Book of the Year - newly available in trade paperback.
From the Author
An overview of what Judaism teaches about the afterlife.
I wrote this book for a number of reasons: first, because of my advancing sense of my mortality; second to show that Judaism believed in an afterlife before Christianity came on the scene; and third, because I believe that Jewish teachings on this subject are usually misunderstood, leading to their rejection. My goal here is to make the case for these teachings in a modern idiom.
