Editorial Reviews

Review
The stylish funny illustrations are by the highly acclaimed illustrator Paul Hess. Brimming with humour, magic and visual charm, Richard Monte's retellings are a delight for all ages. (www.bettybookmark.co.uk )

This is a charming retelling of these traditional folk stories...Well written and with lots of vivid description, they would also stimulate an older reader. (www.writeaway.org.uk )

An excellent book… Hess's stylish illustrations add humour and atmosphere in equal measure. (Books for Keeps )

Although modernised in their language and style of story-telling, the legends still hold the kind of quality that children always look for in fairy tales and folk stories. A perfect introduction to another country’s heritage. (School Librarian )

Interesting, well-written, imaginatively illustrated and designed book… there are rich rewards for those who enter the fascinating stories inside. (Ibby Link )

The Dragon of Krakow and other stories5
Hi All,

I bourght this book to help me create some literacy work/international coverage for my year 4 class.
The stories are fantastic. They captured my classes imaginations.

The blurb has also been very useful in the Geography elements. It plots the cities where many of the stories come from. We used this for some map work.

The children and I have all enjoyed the international week, which was made all the more interesting through using this book.
