This new edition has been fully revised and updated. It now includes amended terminology and additional information on functional skills and legislation. Most people new to teaching require a good basic introduction to all the key aspects at an appropriate level. This text provides just that, being specifically targeted at those with little or no previous experience. It is appropriate for a range of course and a variety of settings including FE colleges, work-based learning and adult and community contexts. It is easy to read, with clear text and friendly presentation, and plenty of practical activities and case studies throughout.

From the Author
I have written this book (and others in the series) to help new or inexperienced teachers in the Lifelong Learning Sector. I felt there was a need for a book written in plain English by a person still teaching in the sector. There's not too much theory but lots of practical hints and tips to help. I appreciate some people have criticised my approach, however, there are many other higher level books available that can be chosen by those that are experienced teachers. I wish you all success with your teaching career.

An excellent book to accompany the course, it mirrors the syllabus and supports it with clear, detailed information and useful web sites. Everyone enrolling should be issued with one as part of the course !
Great book to go with the course
Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector
At Joan Patterson Associates we use this as the course text for our 5 day PTLLS course. A wide range of students working in a variety of settings have said what a great introduction to post 16 teaching this book provides. Students find the book a great help when completing their assignments and reference to it for the level 4.
A great book pitched at the right level for the PTLLS course.

Preparing to Teach in Life Long Learning
I recently started the PTTLS course and was given a list of recommended reads. I borrowed a few from the library however I noticed when referencing for my assignment, this was the only book I use. The book is very easy to read, straight forward and to the point.
