Product Description

Children are able to communicate by signing before they develop the skills necessary for speech. By teaching sign language to children from as young as seven months we can help them to convey their emotions and their needs. This first signing guide for hearing and deaf children contains over forty key signs. Designed for parents and carers to share with babies, with it's simple and clear instructions and endearing illustrations, this book is an ideal introduction to signing. A helpful tip is given at the bottom of each page.

Customer Reviews

Wow.. this really works!5
My baby twins have just turned one, and after half hearted attempts at signing with them for the past few months, they have just started joining in! It is so amazing to realise that they really understand even though they are so tiny, and already it's stopping tantrums when i know what they're actually asking for. This week they were able to ask their Grandma for milk! They love being understood and are really proud of their achievements. The book itself is brilliant, really good to look at, and easy to understand; the babies enjoy sitting and 'reading' it... having now been totally converted to baby signing, I'm ordering the rest of the set, and am determined to do more with them. Commend the BSL approach, as it makes sense to give them a basis with which to communicate with others later in life, rather than use ASL, effectively a `foreign' language. Highly recommended.

A useful book4
This book is nicely illustrated, and makes a good attempt at demonstrating sign language. It is in British sign language, which fits in with the baby signing classes I've been doing.

It can sometimes be difficult to decipher the signs, even though I have done a term of classes. I think a DVD to go with it would be a great idea.

All you need to begin with ...5
For just under £5 this book gives you everything you need to start signing with your baby. It is quite a large board book and has drawn pictures of babies doing the signs in it. Next to the picture are written instructions on the movements necessary. I can only recommend it.
