Product Description

Walking is one of Britain's favourite leisure activities, and with "50 Walks in Cornwall" you can find a variety of mapped walks to suit all abilities - from the casual walker to the experienced hiker. This book features all the practical detail you need, accompanied by fascinating background reading on the history and wildlife of the area, as well as other local points of interest. All walks are annotated with places to visit along the way: 'While You're There', featuring churches, country houses, museums, villages and towns. Each walk also has refreshment information: 'Where to Eat and Drink', including tea rooms and pubs, with extra details on their character and the food on offer. A 'What to Look For' panel features more specific details of urban and industrial heritage, flora and fauna. Every walk is given a summary of distance, time, gradient, level of difficulty, type of surface and access, landscape, dog friendliness, parking and public toilets.

AA Top 50 walks in Cornwall5
My boyfriend and I recently dared to take my family's dog on a weeks trip to Mevagissey, Cornwall, and departed armed with this book. The intention was to walk at least 14 of the 50 routes, but we enjoyed them so much we ended up doing 23! The routes are clearly represented and described in the maps and accompanying pages, meaning we could enjoy the walks rather than worrying about getting lost. Decent labeling on the maps allowed to to plan the days in advance, and we found the marks for 'dog-friendliness' applied to each walk especially useful. Rest stops and carparks are also marked, as well as scores for total ascent and walk difficulty.

All told, this is a very well organised, clear and useful guide to walking in Cornwall. Definitely a book to buy if you're planning your own trip, and especially if you're taking the dog!
