Throughout the game’s campaigns, you’ll need to prove your right to fly with the best. Are you good enough to advance ahead of your fellow pilots and stay top? Can you throw your aircraft to the floor, twist and turn, and punch out counter measures as you pull as many Gs as necessary to out-manoeuvre the missile? Basically, are you good enough to stay alive?
Heatseeker is a joint development project between Codemasters and IR Gurus, the Australian studio behind the acclaimed historic air combat title, Heroes of the Pacific.

Fun, plain & simple
Having given up on Microsoft Flight Sims as being just too bloody tricky it is nice to put this on and blast away with guns and missiles to my hearts content! The graphics are good, the gameplay limited ( I doubt it was developed for longevity!)the effects are great, the missile-cam in particular makes me smile.
So, to sum it all up, if you want to lock your brain into "Einstein" mode, carry on with the sims variety of game, don't buy this. If however, you want a fun variation on the shoot 'em up genre, get this game. Amazon ratings ask the question "How much FUN is this game", my opinion is, lots, therefore 5 stars.
heatseekers great
I bought this game for my 14 year old son and he hasn't stop playing on it. Its a great game but hard to control sometimes.
Far from realistic, but who cares?
If it is a realistic flight simulator you are after, then this game is in no way right for you. However, what it lacks in realism, it makes up for in pure, unadulterated enjoyment.
Most of the game is spent fighting a seemingly-endless amount of enemy fighter jets and ships, without much help from the few colleagues you have in the sky. It is, in a purely ironic sense, quite amusing to be blamed for the failure of a mission having just shot down 60 bandits yourself, while your wingmen sort of float about somewhere within the vicinity.
But it is the lack of realism and fast-paced action that makes the game so fun to pick up and play. It is, to all intents and purposes, a shoot 'em up in a fighter jet.
The graphics are obviously not what anyone buys a Wii for, but Heatseeker is pleasantly surprising on that front, without being jaw dropping.
The controls are sound, although, as has been mentioned, the cursor will occasionally disappear off the screen, leaving you hurtling towards an impressive, albeit untimely, end to the mission. But it's a rare occurrence and, after a while, you will become a bit more adept at the controls.
It is only a single player game, which is not always an ideal Wii purchase, as the console is clearly aimed more at multi-player titles. But, for anyone with a Wii, it's one of the few single player games about that is probably worth considering.
