Customer Reviews

Great fun but limited shelf life4
EA seem to be releasing consistently great sports games for the wii at the moment, i.e. Fifa, Tiger Woods and Madden. NBA 08 is no different. The control scheme is great and doesnt over-do the motion controls like a lot of other games have done just for the sake of it.

Motion controls are used for jump shots, dunks, steals and rebounds. Movement is made via the analogue stick on the nunchuck and passes are made by pressing the A button on the wiimote. This control scheme really lends itself to immerse you in great game play without over complicating things.

Gameplay is fluid and relatively fast moving and the graphics are as you would expect from all current EA sports games on the wii. I personally think they could've been a bit better but they don't take anything away from the game itself.

Multiplayer is a great laugh and there's nothing more rewarding than your mate setting you up for a lay-up and seeing a slow motion replay of your dunk. It never gets old.

The one downfall this game has is the career mode. It's simply too monotonous. There's really no reason to run through it more than once (if you can sit through every game that is).

There are `party mode' type mini games in the form of a dunk contest and 3 point shootout. The 3 point shootout is not bad and the controls are pretty accurate and responsive. The dunk contest on the other hand is really bad and seems like it was rushed.

On the whole, NBA live 08 is great fun with multiplayer being the highlight. There are a few different modes and I'd recommend this game to any NBA fan or anyone looking for a good sports game. Just don't expect too much from the limited career mode.
