The finest football simulation series receives further refinements in Pro Evolution Soccer 4. The presence of an on-screen referee is perhaps the game's most obvious new feature. What's more, this twenty-third being on the pitch is more intelligent than his invisible predecessors: advantages are played more frequently and the fairness of decisions is improved. Another welcome new feature is that of player-specific special moves, whereby only certain gifted footballers will have outlandish tricks in their repertoire--very much in keeping with real life.

Although there was little room for improvement over Pro Evolution Soccer 3's supreme gameplay, Konami has seemingly found it. Dribbling has been given especial attention; the result is tighter control. Crosses, too, are now easier to perform exactly as desired. Also, penalty kicks and free kicks offer increased accuracy with their adoption of a new control system.

Some 136 club sides, including all 56 teams of the Spanish, Italian and Dutch leagues (these are officially licensed) are on offer in Pro Evolution Soccer 4, as well as 50-odd national teams. Typically, this new version of Pro Evolution is the most comprehensive to date--the new season in videogame football kicks off in spectacular fashion. --Jonti Davies

Build Ur Own Dream Team
A fantastic football sim, it is really realistic and plays better than fifa. It has many modes the main one being master league. The thing i loved most was the edit mode where you can edit almost anything!

You can make your own team (strip, flag, name, emblem ect),and your own players (ability, appearance, name, nationality ect).

this is my first pro evo game, so i admit i am knew to the ranks. But i have been playing football games a long while and this is probably the best one yet. It reminds me of fifa RTWC 98, the graphics are a little shaky sumtimes, and the crowd do tend to look like cardboard, but on the pitch you lose urself in the gameplay. The passing is much better than fifa, there is thru ball pass, actually very usefull, there is high thru ball (by pressing L1 at the same time as triangle, a lot of the complex controls are to do with the back buttons, but it is easy to adjust) normal pass, and so on. The shooting is spectacularly realistic, the shot depends on the bounce of the ball and the speed it is coming at and small but veru significant details like that. Unlike any ps2 fifa game, it is possible to put the ball round ur opponent by zigazing, or by pressing up and then quickly rite agen to keep on going ( what i mean is it is well easier to skin ppl, but still realistic as it has to be timed very well). The tackling like most things is spectacularly realistic, it all depends on timing and angle.

But off the pitch, it's not so good. The menu's, however remind me of gran turismo 3 and create a badge is really very hard to get the hang of. But like RTWC 98, u can modify teams, players enabling u to create teams that u want.

Also there is an issue of lisence... I fail to understand the problem. Liverpool isnt called liverpool, but the players names, and shirts are the same. Insted of Man U we have Man Red, i dont see wat the issue is, just go to edit team and change it if u really want to. BTW italien, spanish and dutch leagues are all perfect.

Overall, if u prefer gameplay, fun, realism, detail, and freedom, go for Pro Evo. But if u have a multitap, some friends, u watch footie on tv but have never had a game b4, this isnt for u...(hint hint - fifa 05 or 06)

THE BEST FOOTIE GAME SO FAR
Well people spoke highly of the Pro Evo series so i purchased Pro Evo 3 and it left me savouring its brilliance, some people picked faults with it, apart from the main one which is always: Its not the right names!!!!

Well if you are a fan of true footie games then Pro Evo series is the 1. Pro Evo 4 is class in every sense of the word. Everything that was wrong with is preddesecor(which wasnt a lot!)has been rectified, it all flows perfectly and it mixes perfect gameplay and a lot of little details which keeps all us footie fans smiling.

The gameplay is perfect but still hard but if you want easy goals play Fifa, its just perfect, sometimes you gave a tense 0-0 sometimes u get an amazing end to end with your keeper going up for the last chance.

Pro Evo 4 has made the Master League much,much better aswell. The edit is so good it makes me want to kiss the game with the aility to choose a celebration to go with your created player, gone are the days of being satisfied with being able to wear silver boots!!!! It is absoulotely class, undoubtadly, with the likeness of all the players so good it makes you think your involoved in live football.

All in all the best football game ever.
