In spite of the lack of the competition where PC golfing games are concerned, there's little reason to feel disappointed at just having Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 to pick from. That's unless you feel let down, of course, by majestic visuals, sublime gameplay and an all-round quality gaming experience.

Catering for all levels of experience thanks to five well-pitched difficulty ratings, it's an incredibly easy game to get to grips with. Intuitive from the off, you can pick from numerous golfers and courses, each of which are realised exceptionally well. Graphically, the game is outstanding, and given the vast number of gameplay choices available, it's going to last you a very long time.

The drawback is that things really haven't come that far since the 2004 edition. Sure, there are different courses to play on, and welcome they are. Then there's a brand new Tiger-Proof mode that lets you modify those courses to squeeze every ounce of playability and difficulty from them, although it's unlikely to be a feature you'll use that often. And as for the gameplay? It really hasn't changed that much, with those fresh courses the main attraction.

Yet still, you can't go far wrong with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005. Whilst it's disappointing that the game hasn't come on too much in the last year, there is the small factor that it was, and still is, one of the finest sports games on any format. Few games offer quite as much replay value, and that should be ample compensation for the lack of a decent competitor.--Simon Brew

Good Fun
I'm not a golfer but I enjoyed playing this.

The graphics are reasonable but not great. The courses detailed enough. There are 11 courses + 3 to unlock [which will take an eternity to achieve] from all over the globe.

What impressed me was the control system which is intuitive and easy to learn. This makes playing the game fun.

Downside is that there is a lack of atmosphere, but just put some music on. Also, there are a lot of options and modes for the Tigger fan but I found them superfluous.

I intend to buy TW 2008 on the back of this.

glitch in the game
excellent game, as are the rest of the tiger woods games, but with one glitch challenging seve ballesteros the game doesnt load, so i tried to rent one from blockbusters but it had the same problem, if it wasnt for that then i would have completed the game.

Tiger Woods Golf!
This game came out after the release of 2004, and what a good improvment, here is my review:

Gameplay=
Swing very easy to get the hang of. Club changes are effective, and the depth of the sand and rough. One fault is that it is a little basic. Aftr a while it gets very easy.

Graphics=
You could mistake the golfers for the real thing. Jim Furyk and John Dalys' recognizable swing has been done to perfection.

Options=
Very good. Pga season is very realistic, and also all of the legend challenges. Playing skins against another person is great fun.

Overall=
If 2006 is anything like this, then it will sell fast, but don't be scared of saving money by getting this instead. This is a very good game on the whole.
