I bought this cool pad for my 2 pekingese last year. They LOVE it. They have thick coats and can get too hot even in winter. They use the mat in the day when too hot indoors and to sleep on at night. It is soft unlike the gel mat I tried which one dog would not sit on. They both fit on one small mat as the size is generous.
The product is great for cooling hot dogs especially in the summer and because of this we have taken it with us when we have gone out. We have a dog buggy which we use for long walks and hot weather. We put the mat in and when they get hot they enjoy lying on it to cool down. This has put extra strain on the mat and caused it to split. This is my only negative comment and I am sure if we didn't move it around it would have lasted longer. The other thing to be aware of is that sharp claws or biting puppies could also damage it, so you may need a cover. I would recommend this product but do bear in mind the problems if you want to carry it around.

Brilliant once the dog takes to it
My two heavy energetic dogs love these. They are a bit odd at first, being smooth plastic, and it took my dogs a few weeks to decide they were a good thing. You have to be patient and give your dogs a few weeks to discover for themselves how comfortable they are for hot dogs.

My very hot dog, who used to be up and down all night in search of somewhere cool, now starts the night on his Cooler, and shifts once only to bedding when it gets cold. He gets proper rest at last. My other dog is less restless, but has a bad back, and loves her Cooler too. We have this size for travel and larger ones in the house. We think they're brilliant.

They stand up to fair punishment here, but wouldn't do for bed chewers, being full of water. You could buy/make covers.

brilliant idea but unfortunatly not dog proof, this product was my dogs favorate thing for 48hrs untill it split at the seams and was therfore ruined - this needs to be made from much stronger material for the idea to work. I feel Ive wasted my money on this occasion
