Customer Reviews

Not the most manly of men's brollies2
This is sold as a man's folding umbrella. Admittedly there is an inbuilt tension between the terms 'folding umbrella' and 'man'. But needs must. And call me old-fashioned, but in my mind even a folding umbrella should be black, and sturdy looking.

In the Amazon photo the product does indeed appear to be black. Good start. It also appears a bit hi-tech, which, although no guarantee of sturdiness, at least gets man-points. My masculinity duely untroubled, I placed my order.

What arrived was in fact blue. And a kind of over-bright, attention-seeking blue at that. And the edges of this blue folding umbrella sort of droop as if it's not really certain it's open properly. This may be some brilliant gust-averting design that's the product of years of research in wind-tunnels, but to me it just looks feeble.

On the positive side it is indeed extremely compact (you could almost fit it in a manbag...); and you will be unsurprised to learn it keeps you dry. The auto open is good - but the 'auto close' requires a degree of pressure that will almost certainly tip all the water off that droopy rim right down your trouser-leg.

Maybe the 101 in the product name refers to the room most owners would like to put it in...

Pure genius!5
Right, I'll start off by saying I live at one of the windiest and wettest coastal parts of the UK, and I mean WINDY! I had grave doubts when I bought this little umbrella, but all I can say is that it is one tough cookie! The auto open and close doesn't work smoothly every time, but it can easily be manually assisted to open, and once it is up, it is up. For its small size the canopy is surprisingly large, and I've felt very comfortable under its protection even in pelting rain. Please don't be tempted to buy something cheaper, this is worth the cost and is small enough to fit in the average shoulder bag. And if you are like me and can only condense a folded umbrella into something resembling an exploded cabbage, it is still dead easy to get this brolly packed away into its protective cover, as the material is so smooth, just like Teflon.

Even if this brolly only lasted me a few months, I would still buy another, and I can't say fairer than that.
