Get those fingers limbered up!!!5
This is easily the best of the Guitar Hero games yet. I admit I am slightly biased towards it; being a big Metallica fan, but it's still the best one anyway.

If you've played and conquered the other GH games, then this one is NOT just more of the same. It is a lot harder than the previous games; with more complicated solos, and with the songs being longer you need a bit of stamina in those fingers!!

For me, it was fantastic to get to play some of my favourite songs on Guitar Hero; not just Metallica songs, but 'Demon Cleaner' by Kyuss and 'Blood and Thunder' by Mastodon. It is also disheartening trying to do justice to classics like 'One' and 'Master of Puppets' when they have such hard bits to master... I've only had it three days though!!

Take my word for it; whether you are a Guitar Hero fan, a Metallica fan or even just a bit of a rock/metal fan, get this game and shred away until your fingers are locked up in pain!! It's the best of the Guitar Hero series so far and not just a limp attempt at a way to make money out of a global franchise like Metallica.

Very impressed... buy it!!

numb fingers!4
Metallica GH
This game is a massive challenge. Long songs and soooooooo many notes.
OMG it rocks.
Good choice of songs and video extras too.
This is the most challenging game i played yet, had to go back to easy and still found some material hard going.
The younger kids got a bit fed up as they kept getting kicked off.
Note; A good physio might be needed to undo all your knotted muscles!

An add on pack at full price?3
You probably dont need to be told what this product is - its quite simply a guitar playing game from a well established franchise.

You will approach the game from one of two angles
1. You have a lot of experience of previous games. In that case, this is an add on pack. And an expensive one at that. Although some of the tracks on here are long/and or fast, experienced Guitar Hero player will probably only play this on 'Hard' or above
2. You dont have a lot of experience with Guitar Hero. In that case, I would controversially recommend World Tour. It has a greater number of songs, that are more diverse. It is simply better value for money. You may also find a package in your shops that includes the drums necessary to play this game.

On the plus side, the guitar in the guitar bundle is good, the colour of the fretboards in the game are vastly improved, and I'm yet to come across a note chart that could be classified as 'bad'. However, be warned, some of the 'Hard' charts drop a lot of the notes, and, again, for the more experienced, this may not prove to be much of a challenge.

If anything, I was a bit disappointed with the track listing. As an old school thrasher, I wanted to be all over this game, but the 'special guests' are a bit uninspiring. I think Motorhead have made a great contribution to this franchise ( I certainly think they would make a great add on pack), but Ace of Spades? Again? There is also another Lynyrd Skynyrd song (You cant knock the band, btw), which seems out of place - plus a number of other seemingly out of place MOR rock/metal bands. Sad thing is, there is a lot of 80s thrash, that is unplayed nowadays, that would make good additions to this game. Sometimes, I do wonder just how much say Metallica had in the track listing.

There could have also been a bit better choice in their own tracks. The Black Album is certainly over played, maybe in a bid to add a few slower songs, and I thought And Justice For All and Ride The Lightning were underrepresented. You certainly have to include some of the more recent Metallica stuff, but it feels like too much.

In short, I enjoy the game but am often ashamed about how much I paid for it!
