Customer Reviews
Not to my taste particularly but the cards are fine
I had no problem at all with the image someone else was so repulsed by. The image is of Kali eating the entrails from a corpse. It sounds pretty grusome but it is a common depiction of the Hindu goddess Kali. It is not disgusting or repulsive.
Personally I couldn't use these particular cards but that is not to say there is anything wrong with them. Choosing a tarot pack is a very personal thing and I wouldn't advise people either way on any deck, I just wanted to shed a little light on the review calling the deck repulsive because they were clearly unfamiliar with the concept of the Goddess as being anything other than fluffy and nice.
Barbara Walker Tarot
The Barbara Walker tarot cards are easy to read. The names of each card are printed in five languages- English, Spanish, French, German, and Italian; and the minor arcana have key words on them to help you remember the meaning of each of the cards. The only thing that might be a negative for this deck is the fact that some of the artwork might be disturbing to some people- the deck has a Paganistic theme to it that illustrates both good and evil forces. I personally like this deck and use it for my readings.
Repulsed by the imagery of one card
I didn't expect the cards to be upsetting. I had seen one or two in a book and that's what made me buy them. When I saw one card depicting the guts being eaten out of a body I was totally repulsed by it. I couldn't even keep the cards in the house and feel at ease, nor could I pass them on. I burned them. They are horrible cards. I can't think of anyone I could use these cards with as I know people in general are nervous of tarot and it's users. This would have heightened the fear. I would strongly advise against buying them. I certainly regret ever setting eyes on that picture and can't figure out why she chose such a scene. Don't waste your money. I wouldn't have awarded one star to these cards but there's no facility for no marks at all.
