DVD Description
Set in picturesque seaside village where pretty, coloured houses nestle around a charming harbour, the drama of Balamory focuses upon the young children of the local nursery and their teacher, Miss Hoolie who are regularly joined by a host of larger than life characters. The first ever Balamory DVD features three episodes from the much-loved series with stories based around the adventures of PC Plum, Balamory’s warm-hearted community policeman. PC Plum can always be spotted riding around town on his policeman’s bicycle and enjoys sharpening his investigative skills in the sleepy town by keeping a close check on the local flora and fauna. Although PC Plum often dreams of cracking a difficult case of catching a dastardly criminal, he has only ever arrested a Magpie for stealing Miss Hoolie’s sparkly earrings!
Episodes:
- The Missing Scarecrow
When Miss Hoolie’s scarecrow goes missing, Edie McCredie asks for PC Plum’s help to find it. Unfortunately PC Plum had mistaken it for a burglar the night before and accidentally broken it! Can Archie save the day and Miss Hoolie’s vegetable patch? - The Sing Along Machine
After a noisy night, no one in Balamory has managed to get any sleep. PC Plum solves the mystery when he discovers it was Archie testing his new invention. PC Plum takes the noisy contraption to Spencer, who with the help of the children, puts it to much better use as a sing-a-long machine! - Litter Bug
Penny Pocket and Suzie Sweet keep finding litter outside their shop, but how is it getting there? Penny asks for PC Plum’s help in finding the litterbug. It seems that Edie McCredie might have something to do with it!
Special Features
- Bonus episode - The Lost Voice:

Fun for all
A great collection of story for the young and old alike! Well Nana enjoys. it.
Never tires of the storys or the extras. Has subtitles as well which is handy
My wee boy loves this...
Living away from Scotland, and with 2 1/2 year old and 6 month old boys, this DVD was a present from more than one of our pals back in Scotland this Christmas! I had not seen Balamory before, as it has never made it to Fininsh TV (yet!!), so was a bit wary. I didn't even know, actually, whether it was animation or with real actors. I watched a 20 minute episode with our 2 1/2 year old before bed and he loved it straight away, the colourful characters, the songs, the happy faces of Miss Hoolie's inmates and the recapping of the sdtories seems to be a winning formula. I read that 400,000 UK kids watch this, so it is obviously quite big outside of Scotland too - I just hope lovely Tobermory will be able to cope with the extra visitors! Our only problem now is that we can hardly wait for other videos to be made available from Balamory... I already know this one off by heart after a couple of weeks, as no other programmes are getting a look in any more!
An ecstatic mother living overseas
As we live overseas we only get Balamory occasionally on BBC Prime and my now 2 year old was always asking to watch it as he was enchanted with all the different colours and people. I was ecstatic when the BBC finally released the first Balamory video/dvd in November as i'm now able to put it on whenever he asks, even my 10 month old enjoys it, can't wait until they release the next one in February as it's definately one of my more favourite childrens educational programmes.
