A terrible sect has arisen is Dullitch: they're dark, they're deadly and they're even more hell bent on the destruction of the city than the citizens themselves. All that stands between total chaos and the return of the dark gods are Duke Modeset (who doesn't like the place anyway), Jereth Obegarde (a vampire on his Mother's side) and Jimmy Quickstint (who is about to do the WRONG favour for the WRONG man). This is a thrilling story of darkness and destiny, where the brave step forward...and fall over.

Review
'many comical elements and a touch of Mervyn Peake' -- The Children's Bookseller 'David Lee Stone is a wonderfully mad new talent to watch. He has a truly original comic voice and you won't forget his hysterically hopeless (rather than heroic) characters in a hurry!' -- Wendy Cooling [The Yowler Foul-up] is a zippy, highly efficient read with a natural, unforced wit and a matter-of-fact heartlessness that never seems mean-spirited. -- SFX Magazine, August 2004 Take a bucketful of Blackadder, mix in a dollop of Harry Potter, add a splash of Lord of the Rings, shake vigorously and you end up with this hilarious cocktail. -- Flipside 20050504

Customer Reviews
Not such a fowl-up!
It's too good to describe, but I'll do my best!
David has a very imaginative mind to have created this book - and its even better than the first one (Ratastrophe Catastrophe) although it could really do with a dragon or two.
I hope all David's books are as good as this one.
Some of the great characters from the first book reappear in this one - Jimmy Quickstint, (ex) duke Modest and Pegrand. There are also a lot of new ones like Grab Dafisful and Obergarde the half vampire (or loftwing).
David's sense of humour comes through more than in the first book and the chapters are short but keep the pace of the book moving well.
I don't want to give the plot away - so you will have to read it yourself. I couldn't put it down once I started and read the whole thing in 2 days!
I'm already looking forward to the next one!
obegarde rules! bring on the vampires!
after reading this i felt compelled to read the rest and i did within two weeks. i loved it especially the vampire man. i qould recomend to any one because it is a great read and really funny. not wanting to spoil the plot but obegarde's 'death' scene was brill.
