An Enchanting Story
After reading the Sevenwaters trilogy, I couldn't wait to get back to the characters whom I have grown to love so much. Although shorter and somewhat simpler than the books in the trilogy, I was just as caught up in the plot and characters of Heir to Sevenwaters.

The book follows the story of Clodagh, Daughter of Sean and Aisling, who is, like all of Juliet Marilier's main characters, instantly very likeable. Cathal has to be one of my favourite characters across the series (he seemed to me rather like Somerled from the Light Isles books), The darkness in him, and the way he fights it, makes him very interesting. I would have liked to have seen more of my other favourite characters - Liadan & Ciaran in the book, but i guess that wasnt to be.

I agree with the various others who have said this book feels slightly unfinished in some ways, but I hear Juliet is writing another Sevenwaters novel - Song of the Islands, so i look forward to that, and hope it rounds off what was left unfinished in this book.

All in all, an excellent read, if you have been following the sevenwaters trilogy, you wont be disappointed.

A book that keeps your attention all the way through
Having read the Sevenwaters Trilogy, I really looked forward to another part of it. When I started to read this book, I hoped that it would be give me some clue as to which direction that it may be going in, but it was to prove me wrong! Instead of running like the others, with the Fair Folk and Old Ones beside the characters, this time the characters entered their world. I found it engaging to read but sometimes felt that the story was not as sophisticated as the Sevenwater Trilogy. However do not let this put you off! The book has a fantastic and different story line that leads you into thinking completely different ideas which are not what is actually happening, that only after you've read got further into the book, you fully see them! Juliet Mariller is a fantastic author and I highly recommend her books!

Beautiful fantasy
Another great book about family, adventure, magic and growing up. The main character is very likeable and it is good to see her interacting with her family before the real story begins. The idea of the changeling is brilliantly realised and the journey the characters take through the magical land leaves you turning each page to see what comes next. I would however comment that this novel feels like there are pieces left out and the whole novel lacks the darkness and corresponding emotional intensity that seemed present in the other sevenwater novels. On the other hand it is a very good read, but if you haven't read any books by the author before start with daughter of the forest - following the family and revisiting them is part of what makes the books so good. A book to devote a whole afternoon and evening to if you have the time, when you get into the story it is difficult to put down.
