Amazon.co.uk Review
Best known for their acclaimed debut during the peak of trip hop back in the 1990s, the Sneaker Pimps have delivered a marvellous third album, BloodSport that bristles with inventive, shimmering electronics. Evoking slivers of old Depeche Mode, Killing Joke, Moloko and Marilyn Manson, the Pimps meld and manipulate samples and snippets into smart trip-pop that hits on every level. Highlights? All of it, but "Sick" has a rudely addictive, airy loop in it's upbeat refrain, while "The Fuel" is a Wim Wenders desert movie filtered through the Pimps' trip-hop conscience. With Bloodsport, the Pimps have successfully made their very own groovy alterna-dance-punk masterpiece.--Steffan Chirazi
CD Description
Third album by British trip-hop/rock act and the second to feature lead vocals by their guitarist Chris Corner (former vocalist Kelli Dayton has now gone solo). Dark, emotional grooves featuring production work by Flood (Depeche Mode, U2, PJ Harvey) and Jim Abbiss (Bjork, DJ Shadow, UNKLE).

a mile away from "Splinter"...
Its been a while since we heard anything from the British Quartet and they certainly are back. Despite some over vicous critical maulings from the music press, Bloodsports is a welcome return, and change for the Sneaker Pimps. Gone are the mellow, swooping bass loops of Splinter and Becoming X, in are the edgy and harsh electro pop/indie sounds of Bloodsports. Chris Corners raw vocal lifts standout songs such as Loretta Young Silks, Sick and Grazes.
If you are a harderned Pimps fan who also spends there time getting depressed to Portishead, expect Bloodsports to wake you up and get out of your black bedroom, the opening track KiroTV shows the intent of the album through out. Harsh bass and ear destroying kick drums combined with Corners guitar and constanlty improving voice carry the Sneaker Pimps into a new range of Anthem dance/indie tracks and proves once and for all that they are NOT another depressing hip-hop band, but a young band with fresh ideas experimenting on every level of music possible, and inventing some while they are there.
Wow!
This album truly is a masterpiece. I like a lot of different music, but I think this would appeal to anyone into any music. The smooth vocals remind me of Evil Superstars or Gomez, there are some trippy synthy riffs similar to those used on Statues by Moloko and some more rocky/indie moments reminding me of James Iha (of Smashing Pumpkins fame). I definately recommend this CD to anyone, it's very easy to listen to and you feel like you have gained something from listening to it very time!
Another Masterpiece from Sneaker Pimps
All 11 tracks are great songs, with execelent beats and samples. These guys have a lot of criativity and talent and you can feel it in the songs and excelent voice of Chris Corner. BloodSport is a LP that you just can't miss! It feels like rock, dance music, pop, all at the same time... A true masterpiece!
